The Queen did not approve of the legalisation of same-sex marriage, the Daily Mail can reveal today.
While in favour of civil partnerships, as a woman of deep Christian faith she took a different view on the legislation allowing same-sex couples to marry.
She expressed her frustration to a friend at the height of the controversy, but admitted she was powerless to intervene, saying: I can only advise and warn.
The friend said: It was the marriage thing that she thought was wrong, because marriage ought to be sacrosanct between a man and a woman.

That's the response of the marriage redefinitionists. But hey, redefining a bedrock of civilization won't have any effect, will it?
...which affects less than 4% of the country.
That lie again. Actually, it affects EVERY member of the country that does not want to fall in line, in ways you are obviously not willing to admit.
I assume that the Queen did not want to overturn 300+ years of precedent over the matter...
Your responses are surreal in their irony. So, overturning the foundation of civil society and its Christian roots is not something substantial and destructive?
My preference is for government to get out of the marriage business entirely, but thats another matter.
Again, an argument of the marriage redefiners. You agree with THEM.
True, though technically she could have dissolved parliament to prevent it passing. Though, that is just “technically”, I don’t think she would be able to actually use that power in practice for something like this.
Queen Elizabeth II is well aware of her limitations.
Marriage is a Holy Sacrament of the church, like baptism and communion. I object to giving control over a religious rite to the state. Those who are happy to do so, like you, will inevitably be disappointed by the actions of those forces in society who want to use government to redefine such rites as they see fit.
Regardless, any radical redefinition of marriage WILL push its way into the Church, as it has already begun doing in the U.K.
How can a ship disapprove of something?
“civil divorce, inheritance, child custody and support maintenance, etc, etc, etc. - it must define. Let’s stop living in a dream world.”
These can easily be defined by legally enforceable contracts, without regard to a state definition of marriage.
My main point is that people like you are the ones living in a dream world if you think that more government is the solution, and not the source of the problem, for stemming the moral and social destruction of civilization.
Ping.
Harry is looking good.
Here, here!
Still, she knighted Elton John, and he is now Sir Elton. In the UK, Top Gear hosts would stand and shout “God Save The Queen” at the mention of his name!
Back around 40 years ago, the Beatles said all get knighted if they pay enough income tax : )
Hey, as I said, I don’t think she could do it in practice. Still, she “theoretically” retains that power.
Unsolicited.
And approving of “civil partnerships” is the approval of the stepping-stone to homosexual “marriage”. The double-minded are unstable in all their ways, as it’s written (James 1:8). She ought to have put her trust in God instead, and taken a stand against it all.
I am so sorry for all of your losses. It has been a rough year here too. Much loved choir teacher fighting triple negative breast cancer, father in law needing back surgery...and a rapid and complete social decline. If America hadn’t abandoned God, He wouldn’t be turning us over to the muslims now. We will have to repent and embrace God again before we will ever defeat the Jihadists.
And, theoretically, I could waltz into a woman’s dressing room by claiming I was a trannie. But I’m not going to.
THANK GOD for SANITY and MORALS!!! Wish we had some here!
Did you read the article? Britain is a Constitutional Monarchy (as is Canada). The Queen does not have the powers you seem to believe she does.
