In the case of a woman victim and a male assailant, by time she is physically assaulted, it may be too late for her to draw on him. Or she could easily be disarmed and her own weapon used against her.
Once she is convinced a threat is palpable, she should not hesitate to pull her weapon and confront him. If he's a rapist or stalker, it's not likely he's going to get police involved. He'll rush home and change his underwear.

Don’t show fear. Show courage. The courage to confront the stalker and let him know in no uncertain terms that the price of attacking you is his life. If he wants to put his ego up against your Glock, you can see who wins.

It’s too common for a woman to be alone with strangers for her to make a confrontation each time. Think about a shopping trip from a woman’s point of view. Getting to the car, carrying things, being smaller than half the population, children, etc.
Plus, a man will leave you alone until you look nervous - then he gets interested. His interest is always innocent, even helpful, until it’s not.

In this case, the woman suspected she was being stalked to the point that when she emerged from the elevator, she ran to get away. My argument is that she should have declared her intention long before that, because, as we saw, she did NOT escape, and exposed herself to being knifed (or worse) when he caught up with her.
Had he known she had a gun and was prepared to use it, he may have opted to get off on another floor. Or to vacate the building entirely.

I know what you’re saying. I’m just don’t think I could pull it off.
It is really frightening to confront a man when you’re not one.

Thanks angryoldfatman, and all. I did not see in the article that the incident happened on Jan 26. Makes sense.
