Apple CEO Clashes With GOP Senator Over Encryption At Secretive Retreat
Huffington Post ^ | 3/7/16 | Matt Fuller

It was supposed to be a chummy weekend with GOP lawmakers and billionaires. Instead, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) got into it with Apple CEO Tim Cook over his company's refusal to help the FBI hack into iPhones.

The exchange, which took place at the American Enterprise Institute's World Forum, left a number of attendees "a little uncomfortable about how hostile Cotton was," a source familiar with the back-and-forth told The Huffington Post on Monday....

Because he puts the Fourth Amendment above Apple’s profits?

“The court tried to get you justice but the evidence they need is on an IPhone. So, too bad. Warrants aren’t any good anymore.”

“Apple CEO Clashes With GOP Senator Over Encryption At Secretive Retreat”

Apple was there because Trump has threatened to make Apple build their crap HERE....that’s why they hate Trump! And if anyone would do a little digging they would find a “connect” to everyone that attended.

Tom Cotton is a free trade traitor. He voted to give President Barack Obama fast-track authority to negotiate foreign trade deals. He is a Defense Dept. crony.

Cotton’s top contributor (briber) is The Club for Growth, that has spent millions in advertising against Trump. CFG is actually an open borders/free trade lobbyist group that advocates illegal alien amnesty and that US companies move overseas.

Cotton is also funded by big banks. His next top three contributors are Elliott Management, Stephens Group, and Goldman Sachs (Cruz’s wife’s employer).

Tom will win the CEOs back with one magic phrase: H1B Visa.

Isn't that the Donald's "Trump" card? After all, he's used foreign labor on many occasions, and his stated position depends on the group he's speaking to.

Cotton is on the wrong side of this argument.

Agreed.

That pesky 4th Amendment! Thank God the Founders made it very difficult to add or remove Amendments to the Constitution or gov’t would be a hell of a lot more invasive than it is now.

The potential VP list keeps getting shorter.

There are smart people on both sides of the political fence in Silicon Valley.
Back decades ago, Silicon Valley had lots of conservatives.
The GOP was only interested in donations, not in learning how things worked.
After the .com crash and 911, Intel and many other companies went to GWB trying to get help.
They were all ignored.

Intel used to be 100% Republican until GWB snubbed them.
Now they are all in on Obama.

Apple’s iPhone encryption is pretty smart.
Cotton would be smart to listen to him.
He won’t.

The Fourth Amendment does not guarantee that the government gets what it wants. Your “argument” leads to the absurd conclusion that the Fourth Amendment prohibits paper shredders, magnetic erasers, and matches.

There are laws against destroying evidence.
If you think the answer is to make it illegal to encrypt evidence too, well that’s one answer.
I think encryption should be available for all purposes except evading warrants.

The ‘neat’ thing about Iphones is one doesn’t have to destroy the evidence, the records are still there and ready to use or enjoy- a benefit matches and shredders can’t claim!
And any idiot can do it.

You’re as clueless as Cotton-head himself about the Constitutional and technical issues.

Insults and lies instead of responding.
See a lot of that on these threads.

The legal and technical issues have been thoroughly hashed out on this and other threads. Ergo, I can only assume that you’re either being contrary for the sake of being contrary, or else are one of those people who loves Big Brother.
