Early Ted Cruz doesn’t have the ability to appeal to a larger segment of the electorate.

The progressives have spent the better part of 20 years moving the moral compass to the left for someone as conservative as Ted Cruz.

15 years ago a guy like Bernie Sanders would have been a joke. Now he’s viable candidate.

He is too good for many modern day Americans who don’t even deserve him. I still support him.

“15 years ago a guy like Bernie Sanders would have been a joke. Now he’s viable candidate.”

This is true, and it shows the depth of our failure as a movement. We have come to prize style over substance, identity politics over policy positions. We elected W twice and defended him as he dismantled what remained of the Reagan legacy.

We can still pull out country back from the brink. It’ll mean nominating a true conservative instead of a blustery liar, though, and too many on our side have allowed themselves to be taken in.

Still, optimism is the hallmark of conservatism. And Ted has given me much to be optimistic about. He’s rising as people learn more about him. And about Donald.

Ted Cruz can turn the style-over-substance tide with common sense conservative positions, and the reality TV star can go back to the plywood boardroom set where he belongs.
