Ted Cruz takes early lead in Kansas Republican caucus
The Week ^ | March 5, 2016

Posted on 03/05/2016 12:49:39 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

In the Kansas Republican caucus, very early returns have Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas in the lead. With 3 percent of the results in, Cruz has 53 percent of the vote, followed by Donald Trump with 21 percent, John Kasich with 15 percent, and Marco Rubio with 10 percent. The Kansas Republican Party released a statement earlier Saturday, saying turnout across the state was "incredible," with some locations reporting "four of five" times the number of voters who came out in 2012. Republicans are also caucusing today in Kentucky and Maine, and holding a primary in Louisiana.

True, but it might affect the margin but I don’t think there are enough votes in that district to change the outcome.

The count of the paper ballots must be hand delivered in sealed boxes, then opened under referees from all candidates, who signify the boxes were untampered with.

Then groups sit around and count votes, then pass across the tables for your partner to count and each sign off on your group of ballots. Again, with each candidate's representatives approval.

Lastly, tally sheets are collected and pairs of agreed upon counters, tally final counts, all under the watchful eyes of the candidate's selected representatives to allow no "hanging chads!"

After each county completes the above, all are driven to the state Capitol (in this case, that would be Topeka, KS) where all county boxes and tally sheets ultimately are certified but the "unofficial" count may be reported but the "official" count is reported on Monday, when state offices are open again!

The good news is that Trump supporters are in no way obligated to support Cruz should he get the nomination.

District 3 is huge. The margin to make up for is too large anyway. Keep in mind, I voted in Dist. 3. Everyone around me was for Cruz. Of course that means nothing in the big picture. Just saying.

Go Go Cruz! Make it the **6TH** of many primary/caucus states that manners, intelligence and civility wins out over rudeness, excessive inflated pride and vulgarity.

I don’t think the establishment dopes want Cruz any more than Trump. Mitt just played nice with Cruz because Trump is the more immediate threat.

Those percentages have been holding very steady. Last I checked districts, they were counting 3 districts at the same time. Dist #3 was not counted at all.

Well I am only following the Cruznadian rules. Just about every Cruznadian has said they would not vote for Trump should he get nominated. In the interest of fairness Trump supporters should have the same standard and not have to vote for Cruz should he get nominated. Cuts both ways!
