I cannot believe that FR has turned into Trump central, when the only true conservative is Ted Cruz. So sad.

Remember back in 2012 when Pro-Romney post were deleted?

Disagree. That's a variation on Levin's crying about us accusing him of litmus and purity tests. A logical fallacy ( forgot what it's called ) when someone ( Levin ) hears someone endorses one specific thing and then they ( Levin ) assumes that person ALWAYS endorses that thing.

If people here at FreeRepublic were rooting for moderates on the Supreme Court or in the House and Senate then you might make that case. As it happens, we're talking about one very special election for one very special office, not anything else.

Put another way, Levin and you fail to discriminate when necessary ( and it is necessary now more than ever ). You * must* recognize the right tool for the job. If it was in my power I would not make Trump Supreme Court Justice, nor would I make Cruz President. Given this set of tools, they clearly should be reversed. Levin is really promoting 'I must have the most conservative conservatives always, whatever office, whether the electorate wants them or not, and if you don't agree get off my phone! Yeah, that's a workable plan in today's electorate in the 12 swing states. NOT.

William F. Buckley said: 'Elect the most conservative candidate who can win. The problem is that many people like Rush and Levin stopped reading after the first part, skipping the bold.

He also said: 'I am obliged to confess I should sooner live in a society governed by the first two thousand names in the Boston telephone directory than in a society governed by the two thousand faculty members of Harvard University.' and this is getting very close to today's truth. We want outsiders.

( NB ... I've heard variations of the second one using 'Manhattan phone book', and also something possibly from Mark Twain and/or H.L. Mencken. But you get the idea. )

Renee, it's a gamble putting a doctrinaire (C) on the ticket into those 12 swing states of which McCain/Palin won 0 and Romney/Ryan won just 2. The entire executive branch is up for grabs on that one election. That gamble, that for some strange reason the people in OH, PA, NC, IN, FL, IA, VA, MI, WI, NV, NM, CO are waiting back for a "pure" conservative constitutionalist bible-thumper, is one really long longshot, wouldn't you agree? It is only logical to be following this fortuitous Trump path at the moment because those states make or break the entire thing. A disaster that will be the final nail into our coffin.
