Politico ^ | March 4, 2016 | Kenneth P. Vogel

Donald Trump spent five years building a mutually beneficial relationship with the organization that hosts the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, filling its coffers with at least $150,000 in cash and scoring coveted speaking slots that started him on a course towards winning the Republican presidential nomination.

But he ended up canceling what would have been his biggest CPAC speech at the last minute amid plans for protest and disruptions, apparently deciding that his surging presidential campaign no longer needed any boost from the once-storied group.

I wonder if they would have asked him if he believed in gay adoption. And if he didn’t answer, would they - and everyone else - have needled him until he answered - and then everyone would needle him on the answer - then the next day it would be front page news and the lead story on every single news outlet.

Trump has good instincts. He knew the conservative long knives would be out at CPAC and he would also probably lose the straw poll. He avoids all that except a day or two of Leftist media criticism.

He made the right decision to not go and speak.

All speakers at CPAC answers questions. That’s how it works. Trump is too high and mighty to do that and wanted special accommodations — so he wouldn’t do it. Trump sure is petty.

“Former ACU chairman Al Cardenas added that Trump’s cancellation was “about as strong a slap in the face as you can get””

Expected comment...from an Illegal.

I believe it was Gingrich who agreed Trump was right. “The votes are in Kansas, not in Washington.”

Cruz couldn’t “take advantage” of being handed Cinderella’s glass slipper on a velvet cushion.

Trump is a fraud con-man. Unfortunately, he will not go away until he enables Hillary’s landslide. May be that is his goal all along.

CPAC is blah this year anyway. I watched today and got too much Kasich and Michelle Malkin frothing at the mouth.

Why, are you telling me Trump is gay besides being a coward? I don’t think he’s gay.

It’s disturbing to me, each time I read an account of what Beck said today. He spoke about stabbing like some character in a Steven King novel. He seems to be disintegrating before our eyes and ears.

No, I just don’t like the name calling especially since you don’t know any of these people.

Last night on the debate, Ted Cruz was asked did he believe in gay adoption.

He declined to answer.

Never made the news, no front pages, nada. Trump blows his nose and it is front page news 24/7.

Trump became popular amongst conservatives in 2013 and 2014 speeches trashing immigratoin reform and naive little Rubio.

Nope, he was right. Who walks into a set up? If the Cruzers spent half the time going after dems, it would be much better. Bless your little heart.
