Trump and his staff have told some individuals -- including potential donors -- that as soon as the billionaire businessman secures the nomination, he will pivot and begin fundraising for a general election fight, the source said.
In the event that he wins, Trump will have to quickly scale up his campaign -- particularly if he's competing nationwide against Hillary Clinton's behemoth political organization. In private conversations, Trump and his aides have acknowledged that the Republican Party will need to be well-funded for the general election, and that Trump will work with the party to ensure that's the case.

We are listening. Who is NOT listening to anyone is the chilish welded shut mind who races around the web posting infantile attack posts at everyone who is not joining him in worshiping HIS candidate.
Shut up and try LISTENING not just racing to Red State or NR or the other attack clown sites to get your daily dose of lies, omission and reckless exaggerations aimed at Trump
Think don’t just emote
Unloaded on Cruz lol. He’s on a free ride.
Got it. YOU can make all sort of accusation but when the same accusation is turned BACK on your guy NOW you want a source?
or course. As anyone who been in politics knows full well. General elections, even Romneys, are never run on the candidate’s check book.
I guess the difference between the PRIMARY and the General election skipped your notice.
But I thought he was self-funding so that he wouldn’t owe anyone anything if he was elected! So if accepting donations means a candidate is “bought” by the donors, which billionaires will be buying Trump?
He is not just talking about taking RNC money...
There is no quote in this article from anyone in Trump’s camp that this information is based on.
It is from a “source”.
I’d like some meat on that extremely tine bone.
Exactly. He has said that from Day One. Once he gets the nomination, he expects the RNC to raise money to assist him in running for President. He is running as a Republican.
OK, I’m imagining.
What is the bottom line of which you speak, as defined by Trump? He won’t be signing the checks from his account.
What are you thinking Trump is going to do exactly? Cut spending? Where?
Am I missing something? Is Trump running on a promise to decrease the size of government?
I did not make any false accusations, as you did.
That’s why I asked..
I have been (as a Cruz supporter) continuously slammed over this campaign finance argument, especially as it relates to banks and lawyers. I have also been slammed for supporting a guy who once supported H1B visa’s.
Just to keep this reply short, I will not address all the other issues, but in last nights debate the H1B visa accusation was blown to bits, and today I read that the campaign finance accusation will no longer be viable in the general election, should trump win the nomination.
At some point, Trumpsters need to realize that they have been following a mirage.
It’s a known fact that victims of a scam often if not always sing the praises of the scammer until the very moment that they realize they have been had and taken for a ride.
I am wondering when you will have that moment of clarity.
Opp caught . Normally I am smarter about verifying. Too many attack lies being published to keep up with them all these days.
Sorry children. Doesn’t work that way. You don’t get to claim one standard for you and a different one for you to use on everyone else.
Give me the name of the Trump campaign team member that released this information and what their quote is.
It should be in this article. Right?
But isn't that true about Presidential primaries, too? Primaries (even Romneys) are never run on the candidate's check book. Hasn't Trump's whole point been that the system is broken, that there are too many special interests influencing politicians, etc? So, how is "As anyone who has been in politics . . . " a defense to this?
I guess the difference between the PRIMARY and the General election skipped your notice.
Must have skipped Trump's notice, too: Donald J. Trump - Self Funded Campaign
Here's what he said:
"I'm doing one thing that I don't know that I get much credit for, but I must say, a lot of people do like it. I'm self-funding. I'm putting up my own money. I don't have special interests telling me, 'here's money, Donald, and by the way, I hope you remeber me in two years when I need something.' We're going to do the right thing for the people of this country, for the first time maybe in many, many decades. We're self-funding the campaign. No special interests. No donors. No lobbyists telling me they need help with lumber, they need help with electric, they need help with pharmaceuticals. We're going to do the right thing. It's costing me a tremendous amount of money. Spending a lot of time. But it's costing a lot of money. It's something I don't know that I'm given proper credit for it. But you know what, I feel better about it. Because nobody has me. I'm working for you. I'm not working for anybody else."
Did he say anything limiting that to the primary? No.
Do his arguments apply equally to the primary and the general? Of course.
So, applying his logic, if he seeks out donations for the general, will he have people who want him to remember them when they need something? Will he have lobbyists asking him if they need help with lumber, electric, pharmaceuticals, etc.? Will somebody "have" him? Will he be working for somebody else?
Seems that way to me.
“I will NOT fund the GOP.
I will fund Trump.”
Me too. I never fund the GOP only directly to the candidate of my choice.
To follow your logic, any candidate is for sale. Maybe.
Self righteous you, are not for sale, you donate lew1nskys for free.
Go away, little zedee.

Hillary is that you?
Wasn’t the whole self-funding thing one of The Big Reasons for all his support???? No one will OWN him?
But it won’t matter. It doesn’t matter what this man does or says, as he himself has said.
Welcome to FR.
Is your moniker Yiddish for “grandfather?”

Every nominee gets funding from the party. No reason for Trump to turn it down.
