Mexico says won't pay for Trump's 'terrible' border wall

There is no way Mexico would fund Donald Trump's "terrible" plan to build a wall along its border with the United States if the Republican front-runner wins the U.S. presidential election, the Mexican finance minister said.

Trump, the New York billionaire developer and former reality television star, sparked outrage in Mexico when he vowed to force Latin America's second largest economy to pay for a wall along the southern U.S. border to stem the flow of illegal immigration and drugs.

In a televised interview late on Wednesday, Finance Minister Luis Videgaray categorically rejected the proposal.

"Under no circumstance will Mexico pay for the wall that Mr. Trump is proposing," he said. "Building a wall between Mexico and the United States is a terrible idea. It is an idea based on ignorance and has no foundation in the reality of North American integration."

“Mitt Romney was today!! And gave The Donald a fine endorsement.”

I saw that. What a hoot. The old-guard desperately wants a brokered convention and they have to support a man they hate, Ted Cruz, to get one. It’s ashes on their heads.

You got it. Trump knows all this. Illegals cost our economy 260 billion. The wall costs 10 billion. Chump change.

25% tax on moneys shipped out of the US to Mehico too.

So they would just send it to the Caymans instead. I'm sure there are some enterprising folks who would be happy to serve as an intermediary, for the low low rate of 10 percent.

You have something against building a wall and making Mehico pay for it?

What makes you say that? I was just pointing out that it's not as easy as just taxing remittances to Mexico.

"what makes you think the Dems in the Senate would cooperate?"

It's called the 'bully pulpit' for a reason. They'd be throwing themselves under the bus if they didn't cooperate.

But rumor has it that Mexico goes to *great* lengths to prevent
people illegally crossing her *southern* border.

*************

Illegally may be the important part of your post, but they do come and have
increased over the recent years.

Think ‘La Bestia’ and the countries of Central America. Heck many of the
Cubans coming here take that route rather than cross the 80 or so miles of water.

Do you really think Trump could persuade Dem voters to throw out Dem senators because they opposed a GOP president?

No. I think he could persuade them to put pressure on Dem senators and/or vote them out of office if they continue trying to destroy the country with their open borders madness.

I personally know lifelong straight ‘D’ voters who are going to pull the lever for Trump. Not all democrats are California democrats. You’ve got the penicillin-resistant strain out there.

Before they started invading Colorado, our democrats were to the right of most of the national GOP.

If that was a major issue for those voters, do you think they would be electing the Dems as senators in the first place? There may be some Dems who would support Trump over their Rat senator, but not enough to make a difference.

I notice Mexico isn’t going to pay for TRUMPS WALL.

Maybe we should be backing Cruz, evidently they’ll pay for his.
