An an interview with CNNs David Axelrod, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said that a brokered convention would not be fair to Republican front-runner Donald Trump.
A brokered convention could happen if Trump fails to reach the 1,237 delegates needed to secure the nomination on the first ballot of delegate voting. Delegates are not bound to vote according to their states preference after the first ballot and could conceivably switch their vote to a candidate other than Trump.
If he got two thirds of what he needs, which I think hes well on his way to doing for us to steal from him is not going to help the party, Graham told Axelrods Axe Files podcast.

This is why the GOPe is trotting Romney out. They know a brokered convention is out of the question if Trump gets a big chunk of the delegates (even just 2/3 if the required number).
Ping
It would be the end of the republican party.
We will leave. Never to return.
DON’T SENATORS FRICKING SENATE ANY MORE?
Yes, it would, but more importantly, it would be unfair to your BASE, Lindsey, you dimwitted little crap weasel.
And make no mistake, we would repay you.
the way it looks to me is that the establishment might be slowly coming to realize they have a tiger by the tail and they may want to rethink their approach to donald

“If he got two thirds of what he needs, which I think hes well on his way to doing for us to steal from him is not going to help the party,”
Yeah, walk it back, you priss.
Linda got one right.
Linda +1,
Linda’s character score now -234 improved from -235.
LoL Gramnasty changes his mind like a ... .
I think the GOP senators are pooping their pants thinking, “If Trump has the most delegates at the end of the process and we turn on him, the people may turn on US in return!”
The Donald just has to say well I guess you need to be ousted, to any politician that speaks ill of him.
Trump values loyalty. I sure wouldn’t take one for the team if I thought Trump had a chance of winning. If you defend Trump now, you’d be sitting pretty in January.
If he gets to 1237 and wins the majority of delegates from 8 states, which are the two rules as I understand them, his name goes on the ballot. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t. Crying that he should be on the ballot even though he didn’t get the votes won’t help his cause.
Establishment would rather have Trump than Cruz. To people like Graham Trump is just a clown but Cruz is evil
Must be someone showed Linda some photos of his youthful indiscretions.
Seriously!
Knock me over!
Graham wants to keep his job after all. Bet his inbox has been full of backlash for his TRUMP bashing.
If Trump gets the nomination or not we are witnessing the end of the republican party. A new party will be necessary after the election, it will limp along for a few years, and will see many defections and an ideological divide continue to manifest. I’m sorry I can’t support Trump, he’s a vulgar duffus. It would be like voting for a crazy uncle who thinks we’ve been visited by extra terrestrials or we never landed on the moon!
Since there are 2470 something and 1237 is needed for nomination the 2/3 mark is approx. 816. Cruz could conceivably be in the same ballpark come convention time. Then you would have a legit brokered convention.
