In order to defeat Donald Trump, The Weekly Standards Bill Kristol admits he is prepared to hand Hillary Clinton the Oval Office. On Wednesdays Morning Joe, the Republican Establishment leader laid out his plot to deprive Trump of the 50% of delegates necessary to secure the nomination. From there, the idea is to go into a brokered convention and cut a kamikaze deal that awards enough delegates to an acceptable candidate (who will have won far fewer votes, states, and delegates than Trump).
The problem with the Establishment brokering a behind-closed-door deal that hands the nomination to a Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)79% , is that the backlash against the Republican Party is almost certain to hand Hillary Clinton the presidency.
If a bunch of rich, angry GOP elites rob Trump supporters of their victory, the blowback will result in so many voters staying home in November, Hillary wins. As NBCs Chuck Todd pointed out last night, at this point the delegate math is such that the only way to stop Trump is through this scheme at the convention.
As youll see below, that outcome is preferable to Kristol, and by extension it is safe to assume that outcome is also fine with the rest of the Republican Establishment.

Bill Kristol has PRETENDED to be a conservative for years. Don’t you get it yet?
Those that say that they will let Hillary win if Trump is the nominee are lying or incredibly stupid. Most likely the former. It is a ruse to move your vote from Trump to anyone else. If they really wanted Hillary to have at least two Supreme Court nominees, they would be direct Hillary supporters and not a supporter of another Republican candidate.
Yet, Trump is the one sticking his thumb in their eye. Do you have a point?
3rd party may make a difference and be a viable solution if that happens.
I didnt vote for Trump, but this attempt to undercut his legitimate success is disgusting. These politicians and pundits do not have any core principles other than they believe and worship government and its control over anyone outside of their incestuous beltway.
They truly spit upon the concepts of freedom and liberty. Is the electorate making a mistake with Trump? Perhaps. But it is the electorates choice to make!
Republicans, Democrats, Uniparty, Government Party, all the same. Anything other than freeing the citizenry from the shackles of taxation and regulation.
Well said. The political parties want the illusion of the people having a vote, but the parties want to be in control. In this election, their charade has been exposed.
WILL YOU VOTE FOR HILLARY???
THAT is what the GOPe wants you to do!
SOOO Go out and vote!
“The difference is that Kristol has been a conservative for quite awhile now, something like 30 years”
?
ROTFLMFAO !!
Bill Kristol is living proof neocon Irving Kristol should have used condoms.
LOL or like Scott Walker, pull out early....
Trump may not have a choice who his VP is.
Sure, when all else fails, accuse people you disagree with of anti-Semitism. Democrats use the same strategy, only they call their opponents racists. I guess there is a subtle difference between establishment Democrats and Republicans after all.
What makes you think the history books of the future (if the darkside wins) will even mention that dusty relic, the 2nd amendment?
Don’t blame me. I didn’t bring up his religion.
If Trump or even Cruz does not win, mark my words, there will be a rebellion coming and it will not be peaceful.
Oh, because I oppose Putin, too. Well, I guess I prefer limited government to authoritarian statists.
Yeah, right. I’ve been conservative 30 times longer than Trump, and I’ve only done it out of principle not out pecuniary interest or for power.

And what is Trump pretending to be with his single payer health care plan? Is that socialize medicine a conservative position? I could go on but why waste my time with people who never even care when they find out that Trump has positions contrary to conservatism.
If this were true, you'd oppose Kristol and other neoconservatives, who are welfare state Republicans. They (like the Bush administration) have no beef with LBJ's Great Society, except when they don't get to be the ones running it.
