All the politicians who talk about higher education talk about college. What about upgrading practical education in high school for those who don’t want to go to college. Sixty years ago when I was in a good high school we had 4 tracks with somewhat different curriculum—liberal arts college, science college, industrial trades, and clerical trades. I am not aware that vocational education anywhere is very good. What is the experience/information of others??
NYC has 25 vocational high schools: http://www.publicschoolreview.com/new-york/vocational-public-schools
My cousins are well read educated. Some are artisans..woodcraft, metals...agriculture..not pot...chickens, gardening, canning. Astonishinly talented young people. One is a writer and working to self publish. Some have high school level and others college. Very diverse. All creative hard working young families.
The entire education system is rotten to the core. Thankfully Trump said he would gut the Dept Of Edu. and it should be local control. The idea that every kid should go to college is beyond stupid. Especially considering the pits of depravity and commiepukedom colleges have become. Trade and vocational schools, apprenticeships etc are the way to go for most or at least a simple majority. There is no reason why an 18 to 20 yr old can’t act like an adult with a full time job.
