I think a brokered convention is nearly inevitable.

I do think that it is reasonable always for conservatives to hold out for a conservative nominee— no matter what the establishment picks out for us.

Trump is a blue blood New York Values plutocrat. He is not conservative. He hates conservatives.

That can become clear to a point where a brokered convention leads back to Cruz.

Maybe Trump would accept VP from Cruz. That would be acceptable to me and perhaps his followers.

I have watched all 10 debates and I honestly do not think Trump will help conservatives in the future. There is no reliable history to suggest he would. Its all the art of the deal that promises without deliveries.

Trump is a national candidate.

He’s won all around the country. None of his rivals have been able to do it.

Trump is going to win the GOP nomination.

And we’re entering the winner-take all phase of the GOP contest.

Why are people suggesting a broken convention. One candidate is winning the vast majority of the states. Of the remaining “big” states...I can guarantee and will bet money that Trump will win the following:

New York, North Carolina, Arizona, New Jersey. I would probably bet money on Michigan and thats being extremely conservative.

Nope. It will be brokered but not at the convention. Trump will win the nomination and then the GOP will run a straw man “constitutionalist” 3rd Party candidate to try to throw the election to Hillary. Romney and his stooge Sasse are already laying the ground work for this.

You keep putting this as a Conservatives vs Trump and that’s not correct. The entire Trump phenomenon is about the Country Class e.g. “We the People” vs. the Ruling Class, using Anthony Codevilla’s terminology. Another term for the Ruling Class often used on FR is the “Uniparty”. Conservatives are not alone in opposing the Ruling Class, and in fact some “conservatives” are an integral part of it.

In sports you always know who the opponent is, but this isn’t sports. Those supporting Trump see him as the best and maybe only hope of taking power back from the Ruling Class and putting the nation back on track applying the conservative principles that you can hear Trump explain in any of his speeches, e.g. strong national defense, fair and smart trade, enforcing our borders, supporting law enforcement, returning education to local control, and replealing and replacing Obamacare.

If that’s not conservative enough for you, you must understand that it is for the vast majority of us.

That can become clear to a point where a brokered convention leads back to Cruz.

If there's a brokered convention the only way to stop the GOPe from nominating Rubio, Romney or Kasich will be for Cruz to join forces with Trump. If he joins with Rubio we get a amnesty globalist at the top of the ticket. The only way Trump/Cruz wins is with Cruz as VP. Cruz's ego won't allow that, so a brokered convention means a squishy nominee and President Hillary Clinton.
