The problem with Cruz and his supporters is they are very likely to stay home if their one guy isn’t the nominee. So they become irrelevant.
Brokered convention is the only hope for the GOPe, or - as I expect - back some 3rd party (in effect Hillary) because Hillary agrees with the GOPe on most positions.
The GOPe then tries to hang on to Congress. Blame Hillary for any problems. Say, “Oh well we tried” and rubberstamp her budgets and keep sucking up money and power.
