I don't think they are laughing at Wharton - they are laughing at Trump. That's what happens to clowns.
My understanding is that Cruz also turned down the roll of Damien in the new series. He has the look and the style - he would have been perfect.
He could also play Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, given the ball on the end of his nose.
He’s got options, except being the next POTUS.
I’ll agree that Trump is the main target, but I’ve seen people scorn Wharton as well, arguing that Trump couldn’t have made it at Harvard or wherever.

I’m fairly sure it’s Harvard’s liberal cred that convinces them it’s a significantly better school than Wharton. I don’t know how else to explain that belief, anyhow.
