I LOVE PORGY and BESS. Sadly, TCM hasn’t ever shown the movie. :-(
When I was a kid my parents bought the Operettas collection of records from Readers Digest. The family knew every operetta by heart and sang them on road trips. Porgy and Bess, Showboat, Naughty Marietta, Rose Marie, Roberta, Babes In Toyland, etc. I found the set on CDs a few years ago and all were there except Porgy and Bess. I thought they might have “scrubbed” the collection to take out anything that could be perceived as racist.
