I harbor no animosity in asking this question: Why did the Rubios not pay the Alternative Minimum Tax in any of their tax filings? It seems to me that for at least 2012 (Taxable Income = $816,640 and 2013 (Taxable Income = $493,926) the should have. There is no entry for Form 6251 (Alternative Minimum Tax) for either of these years. Should there be?

Perhaps someone who understands the AMT can explain. I can fill out the form, but I can’t claim I can describe the logic behind who does or who does not pay the AMT.

That is a very good point. How the heck did he avoid AMT? I have been hit with AMT (I refer to it as the alternative maximum taking) for almost two decades.
