As fish go toward the Earth's poles as a result of climate change, fishermen in poorer countries will disproportionately feel the impact - putting a strain on worldwide wealth resources, says a new study.
The report from researchers at Rutgers, Princeton, Yale and Arizona State University was recently published in the journal Nature Climate Change. It includes findings that warming temperatures will disperse fish away from the equator, bringing about a "mass redistribution of wealth."
The team looked at data on fish migration, employing a mathematical formula to learn how their movement would affect developing nations' economies.
"What we find is that natural resources like fish are being pushed around by climate change, and that changes who gets access to them," Marlin Pinko at Rutgers said in a release.

A Mexican bricklayer can physically lay more bricks in Mexico than in New York State.
Maybe around 30% bricks.
Why, the weather is better in Mexico.
A Mexican could be living in a much bigger house in Mexico than in the USA.
Immigration into the USA is not a good solution for Mexican or Third World poverty.
A branch of science that has made a very lucrative existence mis-predicting the long and short term weather, now wants to try to tell you where to go to catch fish?
Of course, the poor, wemenz and chillins’ hit hardest.
“THEY NEED U-HAULS! TO GO WHERE THE FOOD IS!”
Sam Kinison, RIP.
Fish intelligence sure has come a long way since the old days.
Women and minorities in Canada’s Maritime Provinces might find work again, I guess.
If there are tropical fish fleeing to Greenland, the Syrians filling northern Europe will be able to catch them. As it is, populations have been fleeing the equator for decades, moving towards the poles in hopes of finding clean water, indoor plumbing, etc.; the fish are just following the Third World stomachs...
Isn’t that the idea? To get the fish to come to your pole? Or at least to check out the bait or the lure.
Will the Poles have to move their poles toward the poles? What do the polls say?
Climate change. Is there anything it can’t do?
With more fish at the North Pole, Santa’s elves can eat more fish. Fish is brain food, so they will be smarter and will make smarter toys for kids. The children of the world will be better off.
??? When I’m fishing fish never move towards my pole.
Hard to say; it is a very polarizing issue...
I’ve heard that line before. It’s sinker swim!
Chicken Little is alive and well in the global warming community.
Nice; I wish I had more creative ones (they make this website great).
Well played sir!

When Polish fishermen secure their rods and reels, do they use pole locks?
