I understand this bunch at Gitmo were captured on the battlefield. That would make them enemy combatants. If they were captured rather than killed for the purpose of gleaning helpful information, and the good guys have gotten all of the information they can, why aren’t they not being killed? Wouldn’t they be dead anyway, if they were not captured for information?

The question is not whether they were combatants. It is whether they were lawful combatants. In the latter case the laws of warfare apply. In the former case they would not be covered by the laws of warfare and may be disposed of as seen fit. These folks are not lawful combatants.

Except most weren’t wearing a uniform or representing a nation. Which doesnt make them US citizens or entitle them to our Constitutional protections.

Notice the only people they want to protect are our enemies.
