Cruz' strategic error was not taking on Trump earlier. It was a gamble that didn't pay off. Cruz has made several strategic errors. There's still time to right the ship. He needs to dial back on the Bible quoting and disassociate from Beck.
He needs to focus on pointing out Obama's abuses of the Executive power (and the Republicans' cooperation with it) and he needs to point out the fact that Trump will potentially act as lawlessly as Obama has.
Then, if the people decide that the rule of law can continue be ignored, the Republic is indeed dead.

Well said. The "evangelical vote" is amorphous IMO. I live in one of the largest Catholic parishes in the country. Truth be told, if only 75% attended Sunday Mass regularly, we would need ten more Masses to accommodate the crowd.
He still has my vote...I haven't changed my tagline, and I may very well write him in come November. Trumpeteers have been quite explicit that our votes aren't needed, or desired.

(Remember the Alamo! Remember Goliad! Remember Mississippi! My vote is going to Cruz.)
