So why didn’t an evangelical like Santorum win any delegates in SC back in the ‘08 election? Neither did Huckabee, Reverand Huckabee. And why does Lindsey Graham keep getting re-elected when he is a Dino?
Exactly. I was just thinking about Gingrich winning it in 2012. Hardly an evangelical. South Carolina has that presence but it is not overwhelming in their voting habits. The idea that it is like Iowa and drives the election results is false. It is a factor, but one of many and does not seem to drive single issue voting. If anything, looking at 2012 and 2016, it’s a state that’s fed up with the status quo and votes for the person most vocal about changing it.
Newt Gingrich did, and he was a better candidate than Santorum. Just like how Trump is a better candidate than Cruz and Rubio.
>>Lindsey Graham keep getting re-elected when he is a Dino?
What does DINO stand for?
This entire evangelical thing is an invention of the media and the Carl Rove-types. Most people do not vote for someone because he goes to church regularly.
A bunch of crapola.
The evangelicals “ain’t what they used to be”, everything is different now.
Not many principles, do not believe the Scripture, etc.......
We will have to issue new Dictionaries and change all websites to the ‘new speak’. jmho
Santorum is not an evangelical protestant, he is a traditional Catholic, hence his lack of support among the evangelical protestants there. One of the major influences on public opinion in South Carolina and its evangelicals is Bob Jones University, not too friendly towards Catholics.
