If you actually look at what he said, it wasn’t as bad as they’re making it out to be, because he was actually talking about 1970, not 2016. That doesn’t mean his opponents won’t use it against him, because it was a stupid thing to say in this day and age when you know people are looking for soundbites to use against you.
