Yes, Nevada needs control of some of this land, for mining and ranching. However, current Nevada politicians can’t be trusted to not sell it overseas.
They need to control what the constitution entitles them to control. And that’s everything apart from certain very well defined Federal needs such as ports, armories, forts etc. And then those land sales have to be approved by the state legislatures.
