It’s worse than that. Cruz played pastor only in the evangelical states of Iowa and SC. He dared not behave that way in secular NH.

The point? He panders to Christianity only if there is a chance for his own political gain, not for the gain of God’s Kingdom.

By the way, HTR, high five on Trump’s win tonight.

Well, I am looking to the Lord to orchestrate a larger victory in America. I believe the Lord still cares and still is listening to see if anyone will pray in sincerity. Certainly, having Barack Obama as president has encouraged the offering of such prayers.

Some people might not accept the gift of God if it lays in straw in a manger rather than being brought forth with pomp and circumstance in silk. But that only tells us about those people, not about God. God keeps on testing us to see if we will accept Him on basis of His merit, not on the basis of worldly show.

And Trump never panders to Christianity? LOL. The only relationship Trump has with Christianity is his pandering.

Cruz is a tried-and-true Christian. If you can’t look at his record in Texas and in the courts and his family life and see that, you’re blind.

Obviously in a campaign, you play up the side of you that appeals to the voters you’re with. As long as it’s emphasis and not denial or flip-flopping, that’s not only fine, but anyone would be stupid not to do it.

THIS...

“He panders to Christianity only if there is a chance for his own political gain, not for the gain of God’s Kingdom.”

I attended a number of Cruz rallies in NH. Cruz was quoting Scripture and asking us to pray.

Your God is very small if he needs Ted Cruz, or any of us, to create gains for his Kingdom. My God is sovereign over all creation. In fact, his Kingdom has done quite well in times and places where the church was persecuted. And I mean REALLY persecuted and not just subjected to “Happy Holidays” at Target.

well said, which is why I don’t care for Cruz. He reminds me of an “Elmer Gantry”. Of the remaining three candidates, Trump and Rubio are the only ones that can defeat Clinton. Cruz will not win Independents and the Reagan Democrats. Rubio is in my view a deeply religious man, he just doesn’t throw it in your face, he seems to me to more live it. If you live Religion, you don’t need words. In todays modern world “being preachy does not work”. The Western word has succumb to an almost “militant individualism”, i.e. nobody will tell me, etc, etc, etc.

Those that “do religion”, in my view aka Pope John Paul II or Mother Theresa or more likely to convince a secular culture than those that “preach to people”. If Cruz wanted to preach, he should have been a Protestant Pastor rather than Presidential candidate.

Personally, I am in for Trump, and I respect him for challenging Pope Francis on immigration, that took lots of guts and I don’t think it will cost him one bit with White Ethnic Catholic Voters like myself (i.e. Americans of Italian, Irish, Polish, ancestry).

Do I agree with him on everything, no, there is no candidate that can fit that bill. But I do think Trump can win against Hillary, Rubio as well. Cruz doesn’t have a chance in a general with Clinton, in my opinion.

Those of us who do the research know that Cruz only talks the talk and doesn’t walk the walk.
I bought his line at first and made a couple of donations but something about him bothered me. So I called a friend down in TX and asked her about him.
She tells me that he’s just another lawyer who has questionable birth circumstances but won’t produce the paper work that woulld clear things up. Who ran for Senate as a boost to his presidential aspirations. Once in office, he missed a lot of what he was elected to do because he started running for president. He’s never held a real job of work or had to do payroll and all the hassles involved. Has a wife who boosted his upward mobility by talking a very lucrative position doing ? in a banking institution. Ted also has a very wierd-thinking pastor and a good friend/backer who seems to be a few nics off kilter.
So, she asks me....”How’s that working out for us now?
You want a do-over?”
Seeing as she put it that way, I guess not.
