You're right in that we'll find out. With more of the same, the bought-and-sold politicians we don't have to wait to find out because we've watched them screw us over for decades.

I don't think you quite understand the festering disaster that exists in Washington DC. This is no longer a small town disaster, but a megolopolis of 6,000,000 soul-dead humans with all four trotters in the defense and DHS trough. What GWB did to America was not so much make a mess in Iran. He made a mess in DC, a mess you are paying for and your grandchildren will be paying for.
DC is so bloated with incompetent idiots it cannot get out of its own way. All the constitutional conservatism in the world won't fix that. It needs some "work-out artistes" in charge of every department of the US government to hack off dead limbs and hack out dead wood and dig out rotten roots. Some of it just needs to be torn out and thrown in the Potomac to be carried out to sea as food for the bottom feeders.
