My dad would make me cut my own switch to add to the psyops...hand me a pruning scissors...I brought back a downed limb one time. Pap says, “dang kid I want to switch you not kill you, now get back there and cut a switch” We survived just fine. We made it to Free Republic and beyond!

I had to cut my own switches, too. The best part was, I got to use my dad’s penknife while doing it. My dear old momma told me about the last time she spanked me. She preferred her hand to a switch and she bent me over and gave me a swat. Turns out I had something in my pocket, a rock or who knows what and it hit on her palm and broke a blood vessel making a bruise and swelling. I was unaware and ignoring her spanking anyway, so she decided that was enough with the spankings for her.
Switch Psyops - LOL! My mom used the same psyops on me - “go and get me a switch, young man!” And my trudge began.
If I didn’t pick out a big enough one, she certainly would.
Then one day we were burning leaves in the front yard and the switch bush just HAPPENED to get burnt right up. Did I have anything to do with it? - well lets just say I didn’t risk my life to save it ;)
