Thank you for your kind words but I don’t think I want a church that survives the molestation of young boys by priests and does EVERYTHING it can to cover it up!!! The battle within myself is I DO NOT believe in social justice and I am finding myself more and more against the beliefs of my church than I am for the beliefs of my church!!! This pope has just been the absolute icing on the cupcake!!!! I wonder if other Catholics are having this same turmoil within themselves!! I have today decided I am going to seek out another church to attend!!!
Kit, Have you ever read Ann Barnhardt? I’m sure she’ll be saying something about this shortly. http://www.barnhardt.biz/
Yes, this Catholic is having a lot of inner turmoil. I’ve been through this before with our Amercan Church, and only returned a few years ago. I pray a lot, and did also through my self-imposed exile. However, I missed Mass. I missed the Eucharist. Those gifts are worth going back for, and not abandoning. I feel certain that there are some priests who are greatly dismayed by the proclamations of this pope.
I would not proselytize against Catholics here
My own family is about one quarter Catholic and my wife is half Catholic
Catholics who leave usually go apathetic about faith in general much like Jews abandon Judaism
Some go evangelical which makes sense to me
Southern Baptist like me or even more praise oriented sects and Charismatics tend to eschew cultural liberalism in a big way
If you wish to stay close to a more historical church there is always Orthodox
Their priests marry, they’ve fought Islam even more than Catholics and their doctrine us conservative
That’s where I’d go if I wanted a patriarch historical sect
