A few months ago I wrote that Donald Trump was probably going to withdraw before the Iowa caucuses rather than face the embarrassment of defeat. Wrong. He did lose Iowa, seemed momentarily humbled, but then quickly reverted to form by asserting that he really won. He went on to a landslide victory in New Hampshire and now leads in South Carolina.
While much of the political world speculates that Trump may be creating a new kind of candidacy largely immune to normal attacks, let me make another assertion (that may prove as wrong as the previous): Donald Trump should be easy to defeat. What makes him not a ânormalâ candidate actually makes him more vulnerable rather than stronger. Let me explain.
In a Republican primary, Trump lacks both an ideological or geographic base. For all the focus on his bigoted remarks about Mexicans and Muslims, Trump has won self-identified moderate voters in both Iowa and New Hampshire. In Iowa, he lost conservatives and very conservatives but won them in NH (in a landslide victory like he had in NH, itâs hard to win everything.) In a party that is increasingly dominated by the South and Sunbelt, Trump lives on Fifth Avenue.

Time will tell on that one, now won't it? Course now the cocky Cuban claims he will build a bigger wall... Open borders thieves are not going to win this one!!!!
Yes, thank you for this update....Cruz is starting to engage more, but I hope he ratchets up the hits...it appears that you can get away with this now!
I like the LBJ story about the pig...I would prefer to say that Trump is a cross-dresser when he’s at home and wears his long blonde hair down at night, just like a girl! Let’s see this clown deny it!
Exactly like that!!
And they should definitely, over and over, compare Trump to Hitler and Mussolini. That's the most persuasive argument of all.
Hope you’re wrong, if not, say hello hill and good bye America.
Yes, absolutely. It works for Trump, no? That’s why he is winning.
>>If some anti-trump vitriol was all it took to make you a trumpette, youâre a weak willed individual.
No, you misunderstand again. Your rants do not make us become Trump supporters. Trump did that. It is your antics that makes us wonder what flavor the Kruz Aid is. It has become obvious that he’s just another sleazy lawyer/politician who has never done anything real in his life, but most of us were really hoping that his “principled” persona was more than a facade so that he could be Trump’s VP and successor.
People like you just keep us from being able to converse with the intelligent, reasonable Cruz supporters (and there are many who I would hope are embarrassed by you).
I look at Trump like a torpedo, a political weapon of mass destruction. Will there be collateral damage sure. I just hope the Donald gores ALL the ox's.
>> That orangey moron is not as popular as you imagine him to be <<
Agreed. About 40% of GOP likely voters seem to love him. About 60% don’t.
So consider the following arithmetic:
Republicans are about 30% of the national electorate.
Therefore, thanks to his current 40% “popularity” with ‘Pubs, Trump seems to have a lock on about 12% of the national electorate.
Then let’s say he can pull in about 25% of the independents and about 15% of the Dhims. That gives him about 14% more of the national electorate, for a total national vote of about 26%.
And give him another chunk of the remaining GOP voters, let’s say half of them, making an additional 9% for his national total — which rises to 35%
Now, what’s he gotta do to get that total up over 50%?
Very hard to see a path to victory. It just ain’t gonna happen, in my humble opinion.
>>No, they arenât rare. Trump loses to both Clinton and Sanders.
If it is because Cruz supporters stay home and pout, then we deserve to lose and lose big. If they stay home on election day, then we really are The Stupid Party.
Massive numbers of indies and pubbies are going to have to come out and vote.
In NH, they did pretty well, I heard they believe they will get those blocks out as well.
Gotta be massive.
Get back on your meds. Some of us love America.
I heard they believe they will get those blocks out in SC as well
>> Trump ain’t gonna build you a wall <<
Of course not. Mexico will build it. Have you forgotten?
Your chosen candidate is behind in the polls because less voters support his/her candidacy.
It seems the more you people attack Trump and his supporters, the greater his support grows. Maybe it is because none of the other candidates represent the best interests of American citizens, and the citizens know this.
Maybe, and maybe it’s because there are too many alternatives to Trump. They’re collectively getting about 65%
Three days to go to another Trumpslide. You are going to need the meds not me.
I won’t be staying home, but I refuse to vote for another liberal.
Actually, if you cared to look through my post history, you’d see that I was enthusiastic about Cruz as an option before the shame mailer.
But you don’t care, so carry on.
>>I wonât be staying home, but I refuse to vote for another liberal.
Good. Stay strong!
I have a high-skill job in critical infrastructure. I’ll do just fine in the Sanders socialist state.
