I’m more concerned with how Trump arrives at them (and advocates that we do). Do they reflect truth and righteousness as best we can understand them?

My favorite oxen might end up gored, but maybe God wanted them gored.

Marie, I get you totally. Even traditional Catholics, who are quire particular about pre-born pro-life will give the nod to excising the point of ectopic pregnancy and mourning the departed unborn baby. If a technique were worked out for transplanting the pregnancy and keeping it viable, this would then become the preferred option. But AFAIK there has not been such a thing to date.

Any personhood provision needs to have an acts of God exception to avoid an even more tragic farce (as well as its virtually sure rejection).

I have never, ever, heard a pro-life person argue that an operation to end an ectopic pregnancy is an abortion. Please link to an example.

This issue at hand was not this, it was personhood, which is a gnarlier issue. You can call it a supercalifragilistic rather than an abortion, but it “ends a human life” just the same.

Not a problem dude. He could perform an abotion on 5th Avenue with a coat hangar wearing Mengele’s lab coat (swastika and all) and the Trumpinskis would still vote for him.

It no more “ends a human life” than does unplugging the life support of a brain-dead adult. Both are non-viable and will remain so. And in both cases, the decision is justified on the basis of unnecessary waste. In the case of the brain-dead, a waste of medical resources. In the case of the ectopic pregnancy, a waste of a mother’s life.

As someone upthread said, if a procedure is developed to move the fertilized egg into a viable situation that will change the situation. For now, it’s an unfortunate miscarriage, a fetus not capable of being carried to full term nor even to a point where it can be saved.

Again, show me a link to a pro-life source that claims that ending an ectopic pregnancy is considered by that source to be an abortion. It’s not just supercalifradgilistic semantics. Words still mean something, although not so much to Trump supporters, I’ve learned.

I have liberal friends. Pro-choice friends.

When I suggest that we move to the European model, they’re ALL on board.

- any woman can have an abortion - for NO reason given - until the 12th week LPM
- After that, only for the life of the mother or severe fetal abnormalities
- Once the fetus is possibly viable - and healthy - after 21 weeks, all efforts must be made to save both mother and child.

They ALL agree that aborting a healthy, viable fetus is monstrous under all circumstances - even RAPE.

After 12 weeks LPM, the woman’s made her ‘choice’. Period. Even in the case of rape.

The men who I’ve discussed this with like the fact that there is no exception for rape. Many men worry that women would make false rape claims in order to get an abortion.

This would be a HUGE win for the pro-life movement. Massive.

For me, the next step would be two-part.

1. Rewrite adoption laws nation-wide to make adoption free, easy, and permanent. Get more children into the hands of stable, loving, 2-parent homes fast and without the financial burden.
2. Make it so that if a woman comes in for her third 1st trimester abortion, she must agree to be sterilized at the same time. She’s proven that she’s using abortion as birth control and that she is too irresponsible to ever be allowed to reproduce.
3. Influence the next generation by getting ‘human development’ into every school. Show the kids ultrasounds of babies developing in the womb. Let them see the reality of human development so that they think twice before pulling the trigger.

We could make massive gains fast - with a large upswell of public support - with part one. I think that the public would appreciate the adoption changes. Fewer children in foster care. We’d have push-back on the 3rd abortion=sterility thing, but only by the feminists and Al Sharpton.

THAT is how we move the ball down the field.

And it would take time.

If the left is considered the childish side, why are *we* so impatient? Why are we willing to sacrifice any gain because we don’t get our way all the way?

There’s one right here in this very thread.

Here’s the link that he cited.

Trump’s stated position on abortion (reiterated yesterday), is the same as National Review, Romney, McCain, George Bush, and the RNC. (Summarized, pro-life with rape, incest and life of mother exceptions.)

The RNC knows any candidate will be crucified on the cross of the "War on Women" with an abortion position that does not make exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother. That's just a fact.

We will still fight. We believe all abortion is wrong.

If we continue on the path we are on now with open borders, immigration and trade deals, we will HAVE NO COUNTRY. We will have imposed upon us the laws of the UN/World. Which is unlimited abortion (euthanasia, etc.) including post-birth abortion.

Trump is the only one who stands between us and the new world order, export of American jobs, open borders and giving our jobs to foreigners, leaving Americans at a 3rd world level of lifestyle.

Inaccurate.
