Anyone can make what anyone said in the past mean anything. And no one can say for sure that Trump, nor Cruz for that matter, wouldn't appoint Joseph Stalin's corpse to be an SCJ.
So it's a silly name calling game. To me, the bulk of the evidence suggest that Trump never really focused on his own political stance during the time he was running his business. When he began to look at what it actually means to be a democrat (i.e. it doesn't mean you help people, rather it means, you deprive them of their freedom) and he saw that conservatives do in fact believe in helping people succeed, only not though handouts ... then I'm not even sure you can say Trump evolved. It's more that he never was anything, and when he focused, on what was was, he found out what he was.
Of course you can say he is a liar and I am a fool and you know what? I can't prove you wrong.
