If I had a choice, HE would be the nominee. Id love to have him there for about 30 years. And I think he would be a square peg in a square hole there.

Haven’t been his biggest fan, but I’m going to keep an open mind on him here on this matter.

That's just what I was thinking this morning. Cruz would make a rock sold justice and defender of the constitution, and hopefully some day the Chief Justice. If anyone can succeed Scalia, it's him.

I agree. But something to keep in mind.

Anthony Kennedy is 79
Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 82
Stephen Breyer is 77

Even if the GOPe can hold off until the next president comes in, there is a possibility of up to 4 justices having to be replaced in the next 4-8 years.

A president is for 4 or 8 years. SCOTUS is for 20-30

Now, more than ever is important who is our President. His decisions can last decades.

Before Saturday, it seemed "immigration" (invaders) was the most important topic to people.

Or maybe to use a current phrase "Make America Great again".

My opinion now is that SCOTUS selection is the most important factor.

Scalia was a great justice. We don't need a SCOTUS dictating or rubber stamping from the bench.

More than the presidency, as goes the SCOTUS, so goes the country.

I just cannot warm to the man, but I agree with you. This would be his meat, and he would have the opportunity to excel, and become one of those landmark justices that truly shaped the nation.
