The saddest part of all this is not that a great Justice has died but that things have gotten so bad in our nation that normal, everyday people have come to be suspicious of an elderly man dying a natural death. And why is that? A look at the “friends of Bill” list might give one a clue.

Something’s rotten and you don’t have to go to Denmark to smell it.

You are naive.

You see that Twitter and Facebook hyper link on top of the photo?

That means it can be shared on Social Media like Facebook and Twitter.

That’s how it goes viral.

Keep telling yourself that with no actual proof so you can sleep easier at night.

Yes, shut up. Everything is as it was reported, he was old, fat and he smoked. You can ignore the fact that he died in the middle of a Saturday night on a three day weekend when the “sleuths’ aren’t paying attention, ignore the fact that he grabbed a pillow and stuffed it over his face, ignore the fact that the was the deciding vote on some unfavorable cases to the major labor unions and the illegal immigrant promoting Chamber of Commerce, ignore the fact that he had no security yet was the highest profile conservative judge, ignore the fact that he seemed perfectly normal at dinner late the night before, ignore the fact that there is no autopsy, ignore the fact that his cause of death is determined over the phone by a JP who is 30 miles away and never sees the body, ignore the fact that the left is deliriously happy about his death. Yes, and you should also pay absolutely no attention to the fact that there are still several hundred government documents that are classified and not releasable about the Amelia Earhart disappearance (1937, nearly 80 years ago) and just why Rudolf Hess flew to England in 1941. No, the grown-ups on this site will be nice to you if you just sit there, shut up and believe everything that is told you.

I suspect the suspicion of foul play. Conspiracy nuts are making this country stupider than the Kardashians.

That's why there needs to be a thorough autopsy. So when the medical examiner tells us that the overweight, 79-year old, cigarette-smoking Associate Justice died of a heart attack, we can choose to not believe this and chalk it up to part of a greater conspiracy.

“But how would one know, and how would one prove it if one did?”

And, would it make a bit of difference other than dominating the news cycle for a few days. Perhaps ‘special council’ would ‘investigate’ it for a while.

No, being suspicious is okay, jumping to conclusions isn’t.

I will say this. Overweight old people with heart conditions do not sleep on their backs. They also tend to use extra pillows, but not on their head.

The reason why they don’t sleep on their back is they likely have sleep apnea and stop and restart breathing throughout their sleep — if they don’t have the medical equipment to deal with it. This can lead to death.

Anybody who’s conscious of this would simply not fall asleep on their back, unless they were inebriated or drugged.

Exactly.

One more conspiracy theory looking for an air vacume to land in.

The Scalias’ are adults and devoutly Catholic to boot, by all accounts. It is their holy obligation to see their beloved through a holy funeral and a proper burial, as one who is on his way to meeting God.

In the absence of police reports to the contrary there is nothing remotely there to be sensationalized, but for thanks be to God for his life with us, and his Godly influence on the highest court in the land.

I think he died of natural causes, but due to his position an extensive autopsy should have been performed to remove all doubt.

As a committed Marxist I think Obama is perfectly capable of ordering this. I think Scalia died of natural causes.

He lived a robust life filled with song, good food, nicotine, and wine, the company of great minds and one woman, his wife. He had a damn good run at life. I envy him.

I tend to think he just passed away of natural causes, but that said, Americans have a right to be suspicious considering;

JFK files were sealed for 25 years...why?

Barak Obama allowed to seal his passport/school records among others from public scrutiny...why?

Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton grossly violated the law multiple times throughout their political careers and never held accountable...why?

The U.S. government began spying on Americans websearch URL’s, phone records, Credit card purchases without a warrant...why?

Fast and Furious, Bengahzi incidents stonewalled/covered up...why?

Osama bin Laden’s body quickly disposed of at sea. Details of his demise skewed...why?

In a free and open society, we have a RIGHT to know these things, but for some odd reason, our government continues to behave like the old soviet union. Why?

For these reasons, it is appropriate to perform an autopsy

The Doctor who said he died of natural causes DID NOT SEE THE BODY. She was on the telephone.

I’m saying when fat old guys apparently have heart attacks there’s really not a lot of reason to go carving them into pieces over the objections of their family. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar... speaking of which I’ve seen indications he was a smoker, more reasons to suspect normal death.
________________________________

So you’ve seen indications that Scalia was a smoker, and you suspect a normal death. There’s a big leap from your suspicions to confirmation, wouldn’t you say? Why would you object to an investigation that would prove you - and others - right or wrong?

Please note: I never said I think there was foul play involved here. You assume too much. I do support an investigation BECAUSE Scalia was an extremely important man whose death has mammoth political implications. Again, why are you opposed to such an investigation? What harm could it possibly do?
______________________

On the one hand the people who conspired to kill him must be brilliant to pull it off so cleanly with nobody who can do anything suspecting anything.
______________________

Well, you know there are people who suspect something. I believe you’ve called them stupid. But you mean people in positions of authority who can do something? Who would those people be, and how would they be expected to know something without an investigation, which you believe to be unwarranted - because nobody in authority has said anything to the contrary. Does that just about sum it up?

I sometimes put a pillow over my head. I travel a lot and sometimes there is light coming from windows or whatever that I don’t like. People who get migraines do. But let me ask you a question...if someone was going to kill him by suffocating him and make it look like natural causes... WHY WOULD THEY LEAVE THE PILLOW ON HIS HEAD? If you come up with a logical answer for that, I will donate $20 bucks to FR.

I'll sleep fine, it's you that has to worry about night time boogeymen going around and killing Supreme Court Justices while they sleep......They just might be coming for you.

Not really, an Obama nominee can be shelved until the inauguration of the next president. There is a ton of precedent.

It can make a HUGE difference.

Cases will still be heard by the diminished 8 member court.

And anything that ends up in a 4-4 tie dies there with no changes to the lower court ruling.

So on cases where Scalia would have been the fifth vote to overturn a lower court ruling the liberals effectively prvail with 4-4 tie.

State laws vary on requiring autopsies in certain deaths. But given Scalia's important public position and the somewhat suspicious circumstance that he was found dead with a pillow over his head, as the news reports claim, I would think it would be prudent for a judge or coroner to order an autopsy to definitively determine the cause of death.

Otherwise, there will be lingering questions as the actual cause of his demise. This unexpected death is up to its eyeballs in political intrigue, given the election season and the hope of the Left to finally tip the balance of the SCOTUS to the liberal side.
