Under a Trump presidency, Americans would lose their gun rights and religious liberty and see abortion rights dramatically expanded, Cruz said Monday morning on Fox News.

Who ever said the Republican party was conservative? Cruz and the Tea Party have been saying the opposite and fighting them for years.

Exactly.
And Sykes wrote an opinion that is considered the ‘model’ for proper and broad application of Heller.

She ruled in favor of a gun range in support of the second amendment, among other things. This is nit-picky crap.

“SC is a winner take all...over 50%. No candidate will get over 50% to take all delegates. So, they’ll be doled out accordingly.’

Not quite. Here’s how it REALLY works in S.C.:

>> I’d say we conservatives have finally lost everything.

Some would say that. But the rest of us understand that, while fundamental principles never change, the landscape in which we operate has changed dramatically since 1980. Progressives will drive America left because they have developed a game plan that does that very well. Their way works because they accept small advances as a win and recover from setbacks easily. We keep expecting to get pushed back further and further and then throw a Hail Mary (i.e. elect the perfect candidate) and win the game.

The people we elect to Congress to hold the line have not done their duty and Obama marches from win to win. Cruz is part of this “talk, lose, whine” contingent that we count on in Congress.

If we lived in a nation that leaned right (which it used to but doesn’t anymore), then the minutiae of the Ten Commandments in a court room would be a hill to fight for. But, we have laws and NO ONE would be convicted in a court of law for violating a Commandment (because we have laws), so they really are there as a decoration. Learn from the Left: don’t fight for the forlorn hope. Find a new way and fight for that. Keep changing your attack to force them to adapt. They know how to win against your 1988 game plan.

Trump totally came out as a liberal Democrat on stage Saturday, and still his groups blindly follow him. My guess: South Carolina has an open primary and he is appealing to the moderate Democrats and independents (same differences, except for self identification) to choose him over the other candidates, all of whom are more conservative that Trump on a whole range of issues.

Actually, I think Cruz is spot on in his analysis. The “desperation” claim is just a form of ad hominem.

Are you not paying attention to Trump’s record?

So you choose someone who sounds like a liberal Democrat? Result oriented? Yeah, but what result. Trump is a political shapeshifter.

How can you consider Trump honest when he constantly changes his mind on who he wants his wife to be, what party he’s in, who he donates to, whether he’s pro-life or not, whether he’s for assault weapons bans or not, whether he’s for a wealth tax or not, whether he supports the Cuba travel ban or not, etc.?

The “Oops, I changed my mind again” candidate doesn’t equal “honesty” in my book.

Anyone that took the “Oath of office” from Glen Beck should be committed for observation.

We know what Cruz will do. He will sell the country down the drain...

Yeah, I guess that's why Ted's conservative voting record is always in the high 90's, huh? I'll take high 90's any day over someone who has been (and still is) all over the place on support or lack of support of conservative issues (like Planned Parenthood funding, for example!).

It all comes down to a political calculation on the part of voters about the likelihood of a candidate being consistently aligned with their values. I have a very high degree of confidence that Cruz will not abandon conservatism -- I don't have that same degree of confidence with others to be that consistent.

And, as a disclaimer, I do expect that Cruz will disappoint now and then, but I also am very confident that his conservatism consistency score will remain extremely high.

Do you have anything else better to do today than stalk my posts? I thought the Dems had LIVs, but it seems that Cruz supporters are right there with them. I only ever hear the same tired arguments that you people have been posting since June 2015. However, Cruz reveals yet another unlikeable part of his personality on daily basis.

Cruz has done his duty to fight Obama’s liberal agenda 110%. Anything else you can say is a total lie.

Exactly. More and more I see the liberal MO being used on FR. The lion’s share comes from Trump supporters. It’s actually quite odd.

Donald Trump IS the establishment. He’s the Democrat establishment. He has heavily favored them, year after year.

He’s never been a Reagan conservative.

He may be against Bushies, sure, as are all Tea Party conservatives, but he’s altogether not a lover of liberty and the constitution.

Truer word have not been spoken....all these trumpets thinking he is going to throw out the money changers are fools....trump is the money changer. Has been all of his adult life. Why do you think he has fought Cruz over McConnell, Reid, pelosi and yes even Obama....yea he’s anti establishment

This is an easy one. All Trump has to do is simply issue a statement, that he will only appoint strict constitutionalists to the court.

Trump would have no problem doing that. Of course, he'd have no problem changing his mind 15 minutes later, either.
