Trump Says He'd Consider Bill Pryor for SCOTUS, AG Who Prosecuted 'Ten Commandments' Judge
Christian News Network ^ | 2-14-16 | Heather Clark

Excerpt: Bill Pryor, the former attorney general of Alabama, prosecuted Roy Moore in 2003 over his refusal to remove a Ten Commandments monument from the rotunda of the Alabama Supreme Court. Pryor's comments to Moore during his trial focused more on Moore's refusal to stop acknowledging God as chief justice.

"[Y]our understanding is that the federal court ordered that you could not acknowledge God; isn't that right?" Pryor asked. "And if you resume your duties as chief justice after this proceeding, you will continue to acknowledge God as you have testified that you would today?"

"That's right," Moore replied.

"Pryor is also an absolute radical pro-lifer who says roe v wade is an abomination."

Although I wholeheartedly agree with Pryor's position, isn't this what prevented him from being confirmed and he was then seated via recess appointment?

Thanks for the clarification on the Roy Moore thing btw, I couldn't understand why he would have a strong pro-life position but proceed on a "separation" of church and state case. Makes more sense now.

And he said the law tied his hands about Roy Moore.

He didn't have to take the case. He could have recused himself.

Yep. Pryor would require a republican senate with filibuster proof majority or a willingness to go nuclear.

There is some strange theory that those who are part of the judicial system should follow the law.

Exactly what Judge Moore argued.

Those are things we don’t know around here.

Good to see you back. FWIW, your background helps on this forum.

It put Pryor in an awkward position and he had no choice but to prosecute,

Baloney. Prosecution is discretionary. He chose to prosecute the case. He didn't have to.

Good to see you back.

I'm only posting on threads that are not directly related to the election. I will not post to any thread about the candidates. This thread is about the Supreme Court and possible nominees to fill Scalia's position.

The Trump/Cruz threads make me ill.

Obama appointed him to a spot on the sentencing commission. This is the type of conservative judge that Trump would nominate?

Well, the loss of Scalia is another event that seems likely to change the direction of the nation. It also indicates that God is allowing this nation to be put under the microscope to see what really makes it tick.

Pryor hates Roe V. Wade, calling it the worst abomination in SCOTUS history.

http://www.businessinsider.com/who-are-diane-sykes-and-bill-pryor-trump-scalia-2016-2

“Senate Democrats tried to block Pryor’s nomination to the 11th Circuit court, saying that he had described Roe v. Wade as “the worst abomination in the history of constitutional law.”

This is why it is important to discuss these issues, now I think maybe this Pryor fellow is worth consideration.

Hello heights,

Re: Bill Pryor, would you have any information re: the decisions he has handed down? His position on the Constitution, or what we could expect from him. The prosecution of Judge Moore is basically all that has been posted on him

Need more data to make a better decision of who he is.

BTW: Do you consider Judge Roy Moore to be a ‘religious lunatics’? Would appreciate a clarification on just who you place in that category. Or is it the publication you have a problem with, you seem to have knowledge about it? If so, we would be grateful if were you share it?

Thanks.

It is called

“truthful hyperbole.” He both defends and praises it as ‘an innocent form of exaggeration.” From his book.

Yeah, that liar Cruz.

Just because Trump said he supported partial-birth abortion and single-payer health care, that lying Cruz ran ads saying Trump supported partial-birth abortion and single-payer healthcare.

The lies just never stop, I tell you!
