Maybe sending a message to the rest of the Court.

I’m betting his son is sorry now that he wasn’t able to go. He’ll be wondering the rest of his life...”If I’d only been there...” At least that’s the way I would be thinking if it had been me.

"I'm surprised it took that long for the Dems to finally take him out...what were they waiting for?"

What they waiting for: An election year when Obama could nominate a black female, the Republican controlled Senate would block the nomination, the Democrats could then accuse the Republican Senate of racism along with femaphobia (I just invented a new word)and rally their base of low-info voters to vote early and often in November.

I would be surprised if he is cremated. When Scalia was younger, cremation was prohibited by the Roman Catholic Church. That policy changed sometime after Vatican II but tradition-minded Catholics of whom Scalia was one tend to stick with the old ways. Additionally, one of his sons is a traditionalist priest of FSSP and will probably preside at the funeral Mass and would be none too pleased with cremation of his dad.

It could be. I want an explanation as to why the bedsheets are so clean.

It makes no sense from a dead body standpoint but then I am no Dr.

I refuse to pay the WaPo or the New York Times for content. Who is “she?” Would that be Scalia’s widow or a daughter or who?

I doubt they thought it out that far. More likely they knew which way the decisions were going (they are decided almost immediately after the oral arguments) and they didn’t like it. So eliminating Scalia then re-opens those preliminary decisions and obviously assures a better outcome for them.

Can’t say I’m surprised at this...just ANGRY at Scalia for being SUCH AN IDIOT to be a sitting duck for this.

Younger people may sleep with a pillow over their head and ears to block noise. Older people have allergies and diminished lung capabilities and don’t block their nose and mouth.

Not quite but we get closer to it everyday.

I don’t pay to read them either. I just clicked on the link at the top of the thread to read it. The “she” is the Justice of the Peace who declared him dead without seeing his body.

Justice Scalia lived 79 years and would have been 80 next month. He was married to his very Catholic wife for 56 years and she bore him nine children. There has never been a hint of personal scandal about the man. He was the most outstanding SCOTUS justice in memory, one of the very finest conservatives in public life, rivaled only by Ronaldus Maximus who appointed him, and he was an exemplary Catholic layman. He earned and deserved his extraordinarily fine reputation. It is unworthy of you to make such unfounded suggestions. Your track record on FR is a very fine record. Don’t spoil it with this sort of thing.

if a pillow suffocates someone, you see bruises inside the lip, and maybe other signs of a struggle.

And the best way to kill and get away with it is to do this in a rural area. The family nixed an autopsy when there was no question, but that doesn’t mean that the FBI or family can’t change their mind. Usually Catholics don’t cremate...

..The body will probably be cremated. End of story....
..I would be surprised if he is cremated...

Simply sarcasm, knowing how our government covers things up.

Fine hit abuse and get rid of it, I could care less. I am tired of all of the speculation on how a 79 year old man died. He was a good man leave him alone, nobody killed him. No conspiracy here. Come on. Ghoulish speculation. Stop it.

I agree but your post is not responsive to the point raised in my #44 which was that Scalia has earned the respect not to be posthumously accused of adultery by some wiseacre playing standup comic at Scalia’s expense.

I was out going door to door, meeting my Republican friend today. I was giving them information about our Precinct Caucus. One of my friends grew up in Ukraine. The first thing he said was, “This is looking like the Soviet Union!” He has spoken many times about how Obama is reminding him of what he left in the Soviet Union. He lost his father to Siberia and they tried to starve his family to death by denying them employment. Luckily his neighbors and in laws kept them going until they were able to escape.
