I’m pretty sure that your 57 YO friend wasn’t a Supreme Court justice. Also pretty sure that your friend didn’t have his own security detail or was a prominent public figure who’s death could change the historical course of an entire nation.
I could be wrong.
Law enforcement said there was no evidence of foul play. I do not put much stock in the “pillow over his head” because that is a detail the ranch owner would have mentioned Saturday.
“.....His hands were sort of almost folded on top of the sheets.” said Mr. Poindexter, a manufacturing executive from Houston.
He added: “It was just like he was taking a nap. He just went to sleep and didn’t wake up.” (Source NYTimes)
NO mention of pillow over his head (which is NOT the same as a pillow over the face, BTW.)
Justice of the Peace spoke with his physician who said he was recently seen and there were several health issues. It did not have to be a heart attack (as in a sudden event). He could have been in congestive heart failure for all we know. I suspect his sudden passing was entirely consistent with his medical exam.
His family, 1 wife and 9 children, did not request or feel the need for an autopsy when presented with the option. The last I heard, absent evidence of foul play, it is the decision of the family-no one else, especially those who think it is necessary simply because he was a Supreme Court Justice, regardless of what the family desires.
