No autopsy should set off some major alarms, if true. I thought it standard practice to perform one if no physician attended the death.

Not sure about TX, but in some states if the decedent is in the current care of a Physician and that Physician will sign a death certificate then the autopsy can be waived. This, of course is if the family agrees to waive.
