The problem is knowing what we knew at that time, was it a safer “bet” to leave Saddam in power and hope he would never create WMDs under the radar and pass them to terrorists? The intelligence I believe went as far as to say that Saddam must have been trying to at least make it look like he had WMDs to possibly scare Iran. You don’t necessarily wait for 100% confirmed intelligence to take action when the risk seems great.
it all depends on what your definition of wmd is.if you consider thousands of barrels of poisonous gas wmds than sadaam had lots of it.he shipped it all to syria and we watch it very carefully even now.even the regime knows they have to watch it.
