>>Thereâs no way to tell what youâre voting for if you vote for Trump.
Yes, and the thing about “National Populism” is that the collective beast is historically observed to take on a life of its own.
Moral Relativism and Populism are no basis for moral governance - as CS Lewis points out in his essay:
“The poison of Subjectivism”

While it’s true that we’re voting for a president and not a pope - it’s also true that Cruz’s historical faith, combined with his family’s direct experience with the effects of state-established collective/corporate terrorism (communism) make it more likely that he will operate within the bounds of Christian moral constraint if/when the Collective Nationalist Populist beast does what it always does.
Trump, married 3 times, has no positive history of faithful or family behavior upon which to extrapolate a moral POTUS Trump.
I wish we had a better candidate than Cruz, but he’s what we’ve got.
His religious positions are, at best, problematic for a political leader.
What I do like is the consistency of Cruz’s positions over time, and the fact that his positions fit into a coherent framework and political philosophy. Neither of these is true of Trump.
