“Whether the allegations are true or not, failing to put all of this to rest is a serious strategic mistake by the Cruz campaign.”

That would seem to be obvious. And it is also obvious that when your are trying to hide something, you have something to hide.

Cruz himself and his parents may be the only ones who do.
Speaking of that, where is his mother?

“At birth, by being born to an American parent!”

Until the U.S. State Department approved his entry into the United States with a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) or comparable form, Ted Cruz was just another illegal immigrant, whether or not he was capable of lawfully claiming naturalized citizenship or birth or an alien. The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Acts require a passport and CRBA or comparable State Department document to lawfully cross the U.S. border. Ted Cruz is a naturalized at birth U.S. citizen, and he is not a natural bron citizen of the U.S.

“Possibly the best qualified man in the USA to determine a complex constitutional and legal question for which he is eminently unqualified.”

There is nothing complex in filling out a required federal form. You either have done so, or you have not. You can bypass, for the time, any of those complex constitutional and legal questions.

big ifs and butts don’t trump the fact that his parents did fill out the form... in 1986 per the article...

[[Whether the allegations are true or not, failing to put all of this to rest is a serious strategic mistake by the Cruz campaign.]]

How would you propose he put it to rest? He can’t force the supreme court to take it up, and the supreme court is very unlikely to take it up because congress has been given the power to determine who needs naturalization and who doesn’t- and our long history In the US favors citizenship by descent except for a few cases that violated the person’s citizenship based on naturalization acts which violated NBC ‘at birth’ citizenship- The law now stands that a child born to a citizen is a citizen themselves regardless of where born, and my previous post from the uscis . gov website makes it clear that a child born to a us citizen abroad does not need to be naturalized nor to file for a crab OR a certificate of citizenship (something that is required BEFORE a person can apply for a CRBA I believe)

Recent cases In the courts have made it much much harder for courts to strip a citizen of their citizenship via ‘intent to expatriate’ themselves, which was what earlier courts used to strip people of their citizenship- they implied that a person who didn’t meet certain requirements ‘showed intent to expatriate themselves’, but recent courts have pretty much said that a person basically must show ‘clear intent’ and ‘declare’ in some manner they dont’t wish to be a citizen any longer- (not quite that far, but close)

Citizenship by descent, or citizenship ‘at birth’ has changed down through the ages, but the courts now recognize like the early naturalization act of 1709 that children born to a us citizen are citizens by descent- A sovereign person (any us citizen) has the right to transmit their citizenship to their offspring- just as a sovereign king had the right to declare that any child born to one of their subjects was a subject themselves- regardless of where they were born- same principle- only we aren’t subjects anymore, WE are now the sovereigns

Set aside NBC.

Square this report with Ted Cruz’ proclamation that he did not know he was a Canadian Citizen until 2013.

If he obtained his paperwork at 16 please tell me does it speak to the veracity of Ted Cruz that statement if we find out that at the age of 16, when he went to the consulate to get his papers.

Could Ted be lying when he said he did not know he was a Canadian until 2013?

A jury would be allowed to hear this evidence to disprove the veracity of Cruz’ statements. Sorry folks and that is why he dodged the statement asked to him in New Hampshire. We have tape on that.

That might not be true. There is evidence that his Mother was voting in Canadian elections, did she renounce her citizenship to do so? If they did not get a CRBA till 1986 that means that Cruz was designated a Canadian at birth.

The whole thing is complicated and murky. It is very possible that Cruz is not eligible to hold any office in this country.

Even births in America with two citizen parents need to be verified. Most people are unaware because the hospital does the paperwork but we had our children at home.

Each time one of our 4 children was born we needed to contact the town we lived in and in some cases, Worcester & Haddonfield NJ they sent someone to verify the child and our own status. In the town where our third & 4th were born we went to into townhall with each child and they got the forms for us from the State capitol and verified the presence of an appropriate aged newborn.

At this point I don't care. If they tolerated Obama, then they can tolerate Cruz.

It is a fool who insists on abiding by rules that the enemy won't respect.

Cruz is the only candidate on the Horizon that will actually correct what is wrong with our court system. Trump will fix a lot of things, but this is one thing I don't believe he will fix. Cruz would.

Ok, so apparently Cruz’s mom did not get him his official American citizenship. He was entitled to it at birth. She didn’t do it. She brought him across the border when he was 4, which didn’t need a passport at the time, but technically he crossed as a Canadian little boy. She was a dual citizen at the time, with each country thinking of her as their citizen alone. She voted in Canadian elections.*.

So Ted Cruz, though eligible for American citizenship, had no documentation of that fact til he was about 17. Clearly, he did not play little league, or he would have needed a birth certificate — actually, I take that back, little league would have been fine with his Canadian BC.

Dang, I am sick of Presidents having spent much of their youth NOT American. At least in Cruz’s case, he WOULD HAVE BEEN an American youth had he only applied. He thought he was an American child. But officially, he spent his first 17 years as a Canadian.

[expletive deleted.]. If Cruz were the man I imagined he was, he would have gone public with this fact a year ago, told the country he had thought he was American the whole time, and asked for a court case to be opened and get this behind him. He’s either dumb or nasty for not getting this resolved. Officially he was not American until he got that passport in high school. Sad but true.

*his mom voted in Canada: does that mean she forfeits her USA citizenship? No. It means the USA has the RIGHT to take away her citizenship for doing so. This is rarely done, though. Many Americans do go back and vote in their home country’s elections. They are left alone.

BS....We went every year for 50 years....I was 7 months pregnant in 1963 when three generations went.

My father produced his drivers license and spoke for all of us.

Where were you born? Why are you coming here? How long will you be here.

Occasionally, when my dad went with his brothers, in the 1940's, they had to empty the car.

On the way out of Canada...the one additional question was what we were bringing into the US.

“Only if the citizen parents files for a CBRA”

From what I just read about the document, it’s Only if the citizen parents files for a CBRA before the child is 18. It appears that TC was 16...

“Now what does THIS mean? “

Another distraction/s*itshow for Ted.

This is why you just dont ignore this for months because you dont think it should matter.

Here in Washington you just needed a driver’s license. But Ted had a Canadian BC, and his mom’s was American.

I guess my point is that in order to get rid of the birther crap, Ted needed to be far more ahead of the curve on this. He wasn’t.

It leaves the same type of distrust for me just like Obama. Especially when campaigning on being this super bright constitutionalist.

If there is no CRBA, the Rats would eat him alive with this 24/7. He’s damaged goods until he clears this up.
