Jeff Roe, Cruz’ campaign manager, appears unsuited to national efforts. In a statewide contest, Roe can time his most damaging lies and dirtiest tricks for right at the very end. His client wins, and the blowback comes too late to exact a price.

Doing the same thing in a national campaign wins one state. After that the buzz from the lies and dirty tricks becomes the story. Democrats may be alright with that stuff, but GOP primary voters are not.

Agreed. Cruz’s problem is his strategy. He planned on winning Iowa, losing NH and then execute a southern strategy.

Iowa was closer than they expected, so they had to pull out all the plugs to win. Trump and Carson called him out on it.

New Hampshire was a shocker. Ted did not even win the evangelicals there. He’s in trouble and going all in for the evangelical vote in SC.

The problem is he is now cast as a strictly religious candidate, and a nasty one at that.
