Yeah, I think I have the right family. Did a little sleuthing. My old neighbors owned a Mediterranean cuisine restaurant that closed years ago, and in the same location Nazareth sprung up. I believe my old neighbor is the sister of the current owner, or a relative in some other fashion. Yes, to my knowledge, she was an Arab Christian married to an American Christian. We were neighbors just a few doors away from each other for 7-8 years. This is a weird story, because we lived right in that area of town. Watched it grow and change a lot in 25 years. It was cow pasture for a while before retail started being developed.

Curious to know if Hani has his business posted against concealed carry.

Also, is he for Sanders or Hillary or—gasp-—a Republican.

You must mean the Pomegranate. Hani (owner of Nazareth's) had his original restaurant in a strip mall near Route 161 and Cleveland Ave. Next door to The Palace bowling facility. It was very successful there and they outgrew their place, so they move across the street to a former Chili's restaurant, where they stayed for a couple of years. During that time, he decided to expand a bit and help someone (sounds like your neighbors) open a new location on Hamilton Rd. in Gahanna. They opened the Pomegranate. They lasted for about a year or so, then went under. Hani then took the place over and relocated from the former Chili's location to Gahanna. My wife and I go there fairly often. It's a great place.

Also, the Somali neighborhood that a few have mentioned is mostly in the Morse Rd. area near the old Northland Mall area, which is probably 4-5 miles west of Gahanna. Not sure if the culprit is from that area. Will be interesting to find out.

Here is a picture of Hani. He's fairly famous for carrying his aluminum bat around and patting it while asking if the customers are ready to leave. For those in Columbus, he's also a favorite of the Bass Brothers Restaurant Review with John Corby on 610 AM WTVN. They rate restaurants from 0-5 bellies.
