Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)has picked up a former fundraiser for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.
According to CNN, many donors are also now warming up to Cruz:
Keep the Promise, the main umbrella of pro-Cruz groups, is encountering a flurry of eager donors after Cruz's victory in Iowa, sources say -- but since it does no active soliciting, it has not yet turned that newfound interest into cash in the bank account.
And a separate, newer super PAC, Stand for Truth, only just hired a professional fundraiser, Kate Doner, CNN has learned. Doner was the longtime fundraiser for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, and she has deep connections to many of the major, high-dollar donor networks in Republican politics.
A number of GOP megadonors have indicated a willingness to back Cruz. Las Vegas casino titans Sheldon Adelson and Steve Wynn both gave the maximum they could to the campaign during the last campaign fundraising quarter, yet neither of the magnates has given large checks to the pro-Cruz super PAC effort. And even the billionaire Deason family, which has endorsed Cruz, has not given to a super PAC.

You and your frolicsome fellow FReepers might want to discuss the fact that the working, middle, and even the upper middle class jobs are being wholesaled out the back door, or that The GOPe funded the “refugees”
You know......something that actually MATTERS ?
“LOL....They donât get that Trump can loan himself all the money he wants, for his campaign....thatâs why itâs called self-funding.”
As you say, Trump will accept donations for the general.
Cruz’s contributions, are about 1/2, single donors and 1/2 PAC’s.
I expect Trump’s will be relatively close to the same.
I find it funny that everyone freaks over where Cruz gets his money, but know one seems too worried about where Trump will get his.
Yes, he “self-funds”, in the primary, and he will use whatever donations he receives, form wherever they may come from, to pay it back.
It is normal.
I am just saying, all the people who get so worked up that Cruz, Rubio, Christie, Bush, etc, etc, get their money from nefarious sources, some of these players will be helping Trump, when the time comes.
Don’t be surprised.
I agree with you, but.........
I didn’t start this funding issue, it was here when I logged on.
Goldman Sachs=Heidi Cruz's current employer (7 years, managing director)
If that were true...Bush, Kasich, Christie and Rubio would have dropped out after Iowa...and endorsed Cruz.
Fair enough.
I’m from Wisconsin and Walker needs to keep his nose out of the race for POTUS since he chickened out during his bid. He needs to keep a low profile since he MAY, just MIGHT have some possibilities for a cabinet position or some other future opportunities. Simply, stay in the shadows and wait it out.
Regarding the money: is it of the hard Koch or soft Koch variety?
FWIW, I like both Trump and Cruz both.
I say I like Cruz a little better, but not leaps and bounds.
I’d vote for either one in the General, over any of the other Republicans, and certainly over any Democrat running.
Cruz helped Walker him with his campaign debt, did some fundraising for him, so I can’t blame Walker for Supporting him in return
(another common practice)
FYI, my family roots are Texan, Dad’s side, but my mother was born in LaCrosse
The sign reads, American democracy in action, conservatives uniting to pitch in their money to get a true conservative elected.
Better than a self-funding billionaire with a bizarre history of flip-flopping positions who won’t have to answer to any conservative donors.
The crux is, is the money coming in because they are supporting the candidates position or are they expecting favors?
That question is as old as it gets, (kind of like the world’s oldest profession).
We all hope it is the former, and not the latter.
I would like to have hope in the former, still, even if it is naïve, at times.
We are Conservatives, not Liberals, for cryin’ out loud!
We hope our candidates hold the same values.
Who?
Lloyd Blankfein of Goldman Sachs. His own mother wouldn’t be safe, if she had a market value.
Yep.
Do you care that all of the bluster about “self funding” is not the truth?
As for who is funding Cruz, it’s me, my neighbors, and countless others including, possibly, the ingrate you mention. I have no doubt that the Donald has worked with and financed shadier folks in the past, maybe even now.
No one person is bankrolling any of these guys. You can thank our 2008 nominee and Russ Feingold for the piece of steaming excrement that are the campaign finance laws that everyone now has to try to navigate.
