Will they Cruzify Ted?
The Spectator ^ | 2/11/16 | David Flint

Posted on 02/11/2016 4:42:57 AM PST by TBBT

The progressive elites will try to do to Cruz what they did to Abbott

The American mainstream media, the Republican Party establishment and the Democratic Party are determined that Ted Cruz not be sworn in as the 45th president.

Anyone with that opposition must be formidable.

That he is. Campaigning against Federal ethanol subsidies in Iowa, a major corn producing state, and against all poll predictions, Cruz defeated the media's favourite, Donald Trump, receiving more votes than any Republican candidate ever had. Cruz is the candidate most motivated by his attachment to traditional American principles. For his opponents, these are principles to which lip service only should be accorded these days. But the principles under which a Cruz administration would operate are the very ones on which the American Republic was founded.

Cruz does not merely mouth the proposition that all men have been endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, he lives by this. As Texas Solicitor General he had been one of America's most successful public constitutional lawyers, with a string of successes in the Supreme Court. Having memorised it while still a schoolboy, the Constitution remains his guide to the good governance of the Union. By this he means the Constitution according to the original intention of the Founding Fathers, not that fictional 'living organism' which is the tool of activist judges who claim it means whatever they want it to mean.

Excellent post

Your post and others expressing how much the conversation here on FreeRepublic has devolved since the beginning.

I too want know DT position on those issues. Undoubtedly, I will disagree with a few of them. But at least I can weigh them and make a decision on facts not feelings.

I didn’t mention anyone’s family and I didn’t see anyone in this thread mention them either.

Trump probably wears different shoes than Camacho too. That is immaterial to the topic at at hand.

Come on give me a break. How dare you compare Bustamante to Cruz.

You are talking to a native Californian and you should be ashamed making that comparison.

If you can not recognize any of the good Cruz has done for the conservative movement then please go join your friends at democratunderground.

Not much, with Yurtle the Turtle sitting on his face. Not much, in the collaborative, RiNO-run Senate.

But then, that's one of our beeves with McConnell and Company, remember?

So which is it? You want to beef with McConnell and the RiNO's, or do you want to nail Cruz between the eyes because he "didn't do more"?

Oh, uh, he did break up the G8 play to get 11,000,000 Mexicans into the voting booth this year, back in 2013. He pulled some cute stuff in committee that got the 'Rats to throw up on their own baby -- that count?

Or would you rather put the kumbaya back in the pre-Cruz Senate, call Kay Bailey Hutchison back to her old seat?

Looks
Voice
Verbal presentation skills
Over use of emotion in his voice for emphasis
Stances on various issues
Campaign tactics

If he had those attributes from Rubio he would have been a mile ahead and Trump would have been gone. It is a TV world and as many aging actors have discovered it is a High Def world.

and you jimbo87 should be embarrased. A Freeper a long time and you have to ask what Ted has accomplished since he got to the senate?

Freepers of old prided themselves on understanding the facts. Usually did their own research. Figured things out and then came to this forum guns blazing with facts.

Am thinking today its nothing more than search and destroy.

Have you seen him in person? If not, do so. I had opinions about him and him being a Senator...then when I saw him and listened to him I found him to be someone I could enjoy in my home! I read his book. I LOVE his family. I feel sure he will do as he says and he will be the people’s President, not the lobbyist’s President.

I’ve seen CRuz in person, at several fundraising events, before he announced his run for Prez.

He repeated his canned (my dad came from Cuba with $100 sewn into his shorts) story, every time. Hubby and I were both creeped out by this....especially after hearing him repeat it, verbatim, the third time.

Keep in mind, I’d supported (raised $) for his Senate run.

Once I started researching CRuz, and when he came out as a dual citizen...yet claimed to have forgotten he was, I found him to be untrusTED. TPA and H1-B visa increases, sealed the deal, for me. The dirty tricks in IA have permanently tainted untrusTED.

As far as CRuz not being a lobbyist’s Prez...well, that’s laughable.....considering the amnesty supporting groups supporting him like Club for (Mexico’s) Growth, Robert Mercer, and Mitch McConnell/Chamber of Commerce attorney, Eric Lycan.

Said the fancy sidestepper and minimizer.

But let's not make it personal. (Much.)

Funny how an Aussie "gets it" that Cruz is the ONLY candidate talking about taking power out of Washington and giving it BACK TO THE PEOPLE....and that the hatred directed at him is generally perpetrated by people who are determined to be American RULERS...and have no intention of being our "servants".

I saw it in Texas....and am seeing a repeat performance now. As in the past, his detractors won't attack Cruz on his positions of the Constitution, the law or the corruption of power in Washington.....they make fun of him as a person, through jokes about his name, his family, the way he talks, or the fact that he doesn't shove that irritating Christianity into the closet when he runs for office, which they believe makes him "open game" for religious attacks.

And as happened in Texas, it's going to get a LOT worse as their hatred builds should his support increase nationally.

Cruz didn't let them beat him down and out of the race in Texas....we shall see if he has the same backbone to continue the fight through March and beyond.

I think that Ted has been a professional debater/arguer for his entire career. His primary accomplishments in the Senate are based on his innate ability to oppose what is going on. While that is valuable, he has demonstrated zero leadership skills in an overtly hostile environment.

So, if he gets to the oval office I don’t see any reason why he will be able to build consensus and get things done. He has not demonstrated this capability to date.

But he does believe in Jesus...

Ted is being persecuted?

That is absurd

Said one of Cruz's leading critics (and wanna' be persecutors) who will grab at any scrap of information/misinformation that can be milked at Cruz's expense, trying to lead as many people here as he can to turn against Cruz, rewarding each negative comment made against Cruz on multiple threads, daily, regardless of all else (like -- what the truth of the matters behind those "scraps" really is).
