The socialist end-state is always a society that looks a lot like feudal Europe--most people living in miserable poverty, with a very few positioned at the top living in luxury. No one who dreams of such an end-state has good intentions.

I see that vision unfolding here in the Seattle area. Single-family houses are selling at exorbitant prices, while others are being torn down to make way for apartments and small townhouses. A burgeoning trend is the construction of tiny "micro-apartments", scarcely larger than a single room.
The elite are using lack of space as a means for discouraging the formation of families. Generational continuity is becoming a privilege of the rich.
Because new development in outlying areas is virtually banned, population density is increasing, and the cost of housing rises as the quality of life deteriorates.
And what is the centerpiece of "progressive" economics? Raising the minimum wage, NOT creating middle-class jobs.
