Two thought. First, this show the line “no one needs and automatic weapon” to be a lie. Second, why did the “kids” listen to an armed home owner and not an armed cop. I think the “he didn’t point the weapon” statement may have been for the home owner’s legal benefit.

For crowd control, perhaps 12 gauge, 3”, rifled barrel, extended magazine, and #4 buckshot. 440 projectiles in 5 seconds in a 6’ pattern at 20 yards would be very effective

If the kids were black, they probably know the cops are currently in retreat. Especially if the cop was white and the kids and homeowner black, then the kids probably took the threat of the homeowner more seriously because they knew that, unlike the cop, he wouldn't hesitate due to fears of being picketed and harassed by the BLM crew.

Homeowner may have been in a superior firing position and able to target the big mouth (always one in the bunch instigating stuff) better.

Homeowner may have known the kids and called the mouthy one out by name or just asked them which one wanted to die first.

'Mob busting' is an art form.
