Ditto. These threads are wonderful — thank you!

So many of the other threads degenerate. I try to read past to the anger to try to understand the objections being made and make my decision (MD primary still being a ways away). Mostly, the more I see of Trump, the more I like him. I certainly enjoy his sense of humor. I’m wondering if his detractors don’t see the twinkle in his eye.

More and more, although I agree with many of their positions, I see the entire rest of the field as calculating politicians, first and foremost.

Honestly, I think half of what he says is just calculated to get a rise out of a) the media and b) opponents. But he has such fun saying it!

I have been a Republican all my life (voted for Nixon in 68). Worked for W in 2004, for the county in 06 and 08 and 12. Put so-called “conservatives” in like Kasich, Portman, and DeWine, only to be stabbed in the back on almost every issue. Cruz has a terrific record of saying what he supports. My problem is, they all did. And they all betrayed us. I don’t THINK Cruz would do that-—but I have no more evidence on him than I do Trump, except I know for a fact Trump plays to win. I know he’s not part of the GOP establishment in any way, shape, or form. I know he isn’t beholden to any donors. And I know he loves America (as does Cruz). So I have to go with the guy who thinks enough like me, but who can actually accomplish something, as opposed to a guy who thinks almost exactly like me, but so far hasn’t done anything. Just my two cents.
