Notice that Gowdy, Rubio, and Cruz all are lawyers. They can be, and have been, very successful in their field. But I have noticed that when it comes of off-the-cuff communication and responding to unexpected questions, they choke. When they’re working in court they know the sequence of questions they’ll ask. (”Never ask a question you don’t know the answer to.” They have other questions prepared. It’s basically scripted. All “empty suits” as you describe.
I want someone who can think on his feet and make excellent decisions, even if impromptu.
I keep posting that about Teddy and the Cruz supporters go insane! LOL
Good observation.
MM - very astute post! Hadn’t thought about it that way, but I think you’re absolutely correct. I need to do some research on Rubio. I know that Gowdy was a prosecuting attorney and Cruz presented cases before SCOTUS, but I only recall Rubio being in the FL legislature (and, IIRC Speaker) prior to becoming a Senator. I’m not sure if he ever actual practiced law (though, of course, he had the training to get his JD, so what you say rings true for the training and practice he needed to get there).
A business person needs to weigh what’s going on and make decisions quickly, and, as you say think on their feet - Trump is better at this than anyone.
