Most women are herd animals, especially young women. Witness the follower behaviors of today’s millennials - tattoos like all their friends have, endlessly posting selfies on facebook, etc. Add to this the propensity for younger people in any generation to be more liberal and idealistic as unlike older folks they they have never had to work for themselves and everything is given to them.
I think a lot of young women are looking at “life as a man” (being overwork and underpaid, with no family but a dog instead) and rejecting it. Any 20+ year old woman who knows middle-aged women sees little to get excited about; many are tired, childless and bitter.
