Ted Cruz needs an intervention
The Washington Post ^ | February 8, 2016 | Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post

It is no disgrace to lose a presidential primary. Many distinguished people have run for president, and the vast majority of them have lost, many of them badly. Howard Baker, Jack Kemp, George H.W. Bush (1980) and Ronald Reagan (1976) all lost a run for the presidency; some never made it. Sometimes a candidate is not ready, and sometimes the electorate is not ready to hear the message (e.g., Reagan in '76). But it is quite another thing to lose because you, throughout your life, have been hated if not uniformly, then widely and passionately.

Other than Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), we are hard-pressed to recall a presidential candidate who so utterly failed to develop trust, respect and friendships in his adult life. Richard Nixon was hated by Democrats but had developed ties and certainly gained the respect of Republicans from his time in the House, the Senate and the vice presidency. Certainly no presidential candidate before Cruz reveled in the message "Everyone hates me!"

If Cruz does not make it to the presidency, he will no doubt blame the "establishment." But whether he recognizes it or not, his wife and political advisers surely understand that alumni, roommates, law clerks, former staffers in the George W. Bush campaign and White House (and the president himself), members of Congress and others who have known Cruz — lots and lots of people — consider him socially awkward, nasty, dishonest, a blatant apple-polisher and all-around creepy guy. You can write off a few of these critics as jealous of his success, or liberal antagonists, but all of them? There is something badly amiss here. Cruz, who so obviously lacks emotional intelligence, cannot recognize it, but those closest to him surely must see that something is awry...

I'm praying for Cruz because he apparently doesn't understand how important it is to be popular, likable, compromising, complicit and conforming. He's so insensitive to peer pressure, insults, defamation, slander and mockery. He seems like he fears God or something. How awkward!

Cruz is nowhere near as brilliant as he thinks he is. I see a used car dealership in his future.

I will consider your opinion about Cruz valid when you have gone to Princeton, Harvard Law, served on the Harvard Law Review, argued successfully before the Supreme Court and been a championship debater - all without benefit of affirmative action. Until then, not so much.

...Adams, Jefferson, Lincoln and Nixon were very capable lawyers...

No disputing that. 20 of the 44 Presidents were lawyers. Some very capable and great, some average, and some terrible like BHO.

What posts do these allegations come from? I’ve never seen anything like that from anyone here.

Mr. Obama was never really a practicing attorney.

Me neither. Trump does have the problem of going to the convention with over 50% of the delegates and that will trip an open convention. Just what the GOP wants because it will be in their ball park. How about 3 candidates, each with 1/3 of the delegates heading to Cleveland?

Cruz is under SERIOUS and ENORMOUS pressure from his puppet-masters/donors. I imagine things are tense in the Cruz household.

Wow...do you rent a room from them so you knows all the details of their lives...?

Another tangle from this morning. The premise is that Trump swears and that people who cuss are not good people. Trump’s swearing makes him unpresidential material.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3394747/posts?page=197#197

When I pointed out that we had good men our side who happened to cuss, this person responded ‘I’d rather God be on our side.’

To that, I said this:

If you don’t believe that G-d is on the side of the United States soldier, if you don’t believe that G-d is alive on every oil rig and at the top of every tower, then you are a knave.

These men are prayed home from every deployment and home at the end of every shift. THEY pray before stepping into danger. And we all say prayers of gratitude when they come home whole and safe.

These men pray more than the average American because that’s the core of their courage. (That, and really huge gonads.)

Now I really don’t like you.

Don’t bother to thank a soldier. You wouldn’t approve if the harsh language that they used when they saw their buddy blown up. I hear that they cuss quite a bit when they lose their legs, too. My son took a fall with another climber just two weeks ago and you’d be horrified at what came out of their mouths on the way down. My son just spent the night at the bedside of a friend with a brain bleed. Praying.

You are such a brat. And no, that’s not the word I want to use right now.

- Point is that many good men swear. A lot. That doesn’t make them bad men.

In many ways, those are our best men. They’ll actually put their bodies on the line for the rest of us and for their families. These are honorable and good men and should not be disparaged for their language.

...Obama was never really a practicing lawyer...

He reluctantly worked for a civil rights law firm.
He only participated in one case that can be found.
However, he was a self proclaimed Constitutional expert.

Obama and two other attorneys represented ACORN in a 1995 federal civil lawsuit against the state of Illinois. Governor James Edgar and other state officials were the named defendants. Zer0 and his pals demanded that it enforce the then new federal law known as “motor voter,

Generally Leftists scream that everyone agrees that the GOP threat is stupid, hoping to force the notion into the zeitgeist. In the case of Cruz, they understand that isn’t going to fly with anyone. Thus, they have to move on to the next ad hoc attack, i.e. everyone hates them.

The only notable thing about this article is how many Freepers have become fresh adherents of the Leftist media rags.

The real hatred for Cruz comes from the abortion loving, hail-Satan left AND their friends in the GOPe.

He is hated by all the right people.

I appreciate your reply and your family’s service to our country. After considering the context in which the post and the replies were made in, I hope we could agree that Trump was at a rally, not on a battlefield. Repeating the obscenity was unnecessary; the woman surely knew what she said.

It isn’t being holier-than-thou to expect a leader to be respectful of his audience. Christians are all too aware of our need for mercy and that God judges the hearts of men. Anyway, thank you again for the time you took. Emotions are running rampant on all sides. If posters here disparaged the rank-and-file military, they would obviously be trolls, and I don’t think there’s a troll on this thread.

All that education and he is still clueless about The Laws of Nature and of Nature's God: The True Foundation of American Law.

His ivy league elitist liberal professors failed him. Why am I not surprised?
